"Free 4 mode rapid fire" installation guide

Q & A

This method will not harm your controller in any way (unless you solder really bad :() and it works of both styles of controllers.

This is just a prequel to a new code that RFM is making which will have BXB, BXR, RRXYY (Double Shot), Perfect Reload, Rapid Reload (halo 2, halo 3 and COD4), RRBXR (double shot and bxr), Custom Macro PlayBack Mode (RFM CMP), Rapid Fire with or without the other modes, and a few more things (TS)...meaning you can have BXR with Rapid Fire and BXR without rapid fire.

This will all be announced at www.SparkMods.com
END Q & A

Tutorial Start:

This mod is for a 4 mode (speed setting) rapid fire controller. You will get rapid fire on both triggers when you hold them down. You can choose between sleeper mode or external button installations. This code works for BOTH controllers (Matrix and CG)!
Rapid Fire will work in Halo 3 and COD 4 and any other first person shooter.

In order to complete this mod you will have to have:
- SparkMods.com V3 Rapid Fire Code (you will have to register in their forums and make 25 posts before you are allowed to download attachements)
- Or, you can get the code/modded controller/kit at www.RapidFireMods.com

Materials (most can be found at www.RapidFireMods.com if you need them):
- Soldering Tool (and the skills to solder)
- Solder
- Solder removing kit (not needed really)
- 2 Tact buttons (for button installation) (1.99 at RFM for 4 of them)
- Electrical Wire (30 AWG is good)
- Electrical Tape
- Scissors or Wire Strippers
- Hot Glue Gun
- W/ glue :D
- Dremel Tool or Drill with bit big enough for the tact button tops to fit and not rub against the controller)
- The SparkMods.com FREE V3 Rapid Fire Package w/ code, hex, and diagrams of installation
- 12F683 chip or one from RapidFireMods.com w/ code in it

- Otherwise, just buy your own and pay import taxes :(
- You can just send a controller also and they have a mod service :)
- JDM Pic Programmer
- Resistors
- 10k OHM 1/4W 5% resistor (carbon film is good enough) ($0.10)
- 330 OHM 1/4W 5% resistor (carbon film is good enough) ($0.10)
- 470 OHM 1/4W 5% resistor (carbon film is good enough) ($0.10)
- Diode
- 1N4148 100V 200mA General Purpose Diode ($ 0.20)

Directions:
Okay, You got everything you will need to do this. Now, after you have gotten the Rapid Fire Code you will need to read this guide on programming your chip: http://www.sparkmods.com/forum/programm ... ammer.html

Program your chip with the V3 code using the guide above and some common sense.

You then have to open up your controller, check to see whether you have CG or Matrix:

After you know what type of controller you have. Open the controller up.

You will need to look at the Rapid Fire package that you downloaded from SparkMods.com and use the diagrams below for the respective style that your controller has. If you have Matrix...use the matrix diagram and if you have CG use the CG diagram.

CG: Image

For Sleeper mode, you will have to download version 2 from SparkMods.com and follow the different diagrams found in that package.

I hope you guys enjoy free rapid fire and not have to pay like...150 bucks for it. If you can't do this mod...please consider getting the Modded controller, or the modding service from RapidFireMods.com to allow SparkMods.com to come up with more codes. Currently, they are making a V4 code which will release sometime this month and will have rapid fire. double shot (halo 2), bxr (halo 2), bxb (halo 2/3), Rapid reload (halo 2/3 & COD 4), perfect Reload (GOW)...all on just one chip. They have started the experimental phase already. Just sign up on their site and people who buy from them get access to it in beta builds! ($50+ transactions only).

Enjoy your new controller! It works perfectly in halo 3 and COD. In halo 3...the AR is like a br (the bullets are very, very accurate...you can shoot fusion coils across maps and make them blow up kind of accurate). LOL :D!!!!

Wait, the second one really works? I only knew about the first one.

Thanks! I've been modding controllers for $20 each (made about $250 so far) and some of my friends told me they wouldn't work. Now I can use the second one.

I tried the 2nd one and it didn't work for me, but then again I used just a piece of wire to test it.

Though it is near impossible to play COD4 online without somone seeing that you are cheating, cause of the stupid ass kill cam, they can see you using your fully automatic Pistol/M21/G3  Though I wouldn't really call it cheating, cause you are still not invinsible :P but there is still that stupid File complaint option.

Doesn't work in Halo 3 very well, since all but the plasma pistol has a lock on how fast you can fire them.

Bioshock you have limited ammo, so it is stupid to use it.

Can't think of any other games that it would be useful in.

I use my automatic USP .45 and G3 all the time and I haven't gotten banned yet. I've actually met a lot of people who use a rapid fire controller and they are now my friends...

Modding on Games brings people together... :P

How do you know if your controller is old or new?

Ok apparently I have 2 old styles (club live ftw). I think I'll try it this weekend. I have never understood why people par over $100 for a mod that costs less than $5.

Heh, not normally a nazi about stuff like this, BUUUUT....

@Harshboy:

1. I came up with that second method. Is it really fair that you watermark it with YOUR name, and no mention of mine?

2. I have still not finished testing that method. It has worked on every controller I have personally done, but someone has told me it does not work on their particular mobo. Maybe they did it wrong, but that controller is now fried. That is why I had not posted about this yet, still working out the bugs.

3. I did PM you with info on my new method, and I specifically told you that I did not want this info being thrown around yet! I do not have the exact PM anymore, but I recall you saying that yes, you understood.

4. You got the wiring wrong, anyways. For some reason, it seems to only work with the opposite inner pin, not the closer one.

I am not too angry, but I am disappointed you betrayed my confidence.
:( There were good reasons to keep this quiet for a while, and besides, you have now taken away any glory that would have come from this (Not to mention throwing it out there for people who do not understand that it is not a very well tested method!)

Not sure if I should tell you to put my name on the image, remove the image, or correct the image. Preferably all of those.

At the OP: Just so you know, your method may be less conspicuous, but it is easy to rewire the switch to the trigger pot' using the hardware mod method. Hate to break it to you, but really, your method is obsolete. Unless there is something better about your mod?

Dang. So, can you give me a pic of which pin that should be? I have a friend w/a newer controller and he wants the mod. Or should I give it back and tell him it'll have to wait a while?

I thought harshboy was a self proclaimed bootlegger? The comment was more directed toward him than anyone else, I guess. And being called a thief shouldn't be an insult to anyone who it was directed at, just a fact.

Well Technically I didn't create or think of the first method either. I only put my name on it because I took time to draw up the controllers in MS Paint.

Calm down, I removed the image.
