Again, noone in their mind would trade a working system for a broken one. This is a modding community. Why not try to fix the atari?

Are you outside the 48 hours you have to return it?

There's also a mod to convert it to composite AV out. Here's Ben's page on it.

Hang on. There is no Av out on an ATARI 2600. It is an Rf exactly like the ones used on the Nintendo. It should've come with a switch box that you manually have to slide.

No, the atari only came with a cable coming out then had a converter box that it went into, the NES had an RF cable output that would work with anything.

LEARN TO TYPE.
DON'T INCLUDE NONSENSE LIKE "Wallllll!"
STOP FRAGMENTING YOUR SENTENCES
NOT SWEARING AT ALL IS BETTER THAN CENSORING IT
NOBODY IS STUPID ENOUGH TO TRADE SOMETHING BROKEN FOR SOMETHING WORKING
MAKE DECENT REQUESTS

Only when you do these things will anyone consider giving you an Atari 2600. Had you made a properly constructed post I may have considered giving you my Atari FlashBack II (Complete with cartridge modification in place) for your Atari 4-switch, but not until you start fixing up the quality and content of your posts.

Sorry if that sounded a bit harsh, but your posts have been somewhat garbage. Take your time typing if you need to.

I must agree with Bibin

But I would gladly take it off your hands in exchange me giving you money, though I doubt you wish to do so.

And in all seriousness, just go here if you want one so badly -----> https://www.atari2600.com/item--Atari-2 ... D4184.html

Ha. My bad. I thought he was talking about the Jr. Thats the one with the external Rf out. I've opened a few ataris in my time and tehy all have the same port, but it is on the inside. It would be simple to mod it to be an external out....even with absolutely no knowledge of wiring.

Do this. Go to Radio Shack and see if you cant find a switch box, which I am sure is what you need. If you cant find one, get a short length of RCA phono cable similar to the one coming off the back of the Atari. Pick up a female to female rca phono adapter plug. Open the atari pull off the cable as it comes off the cpu board and replace it with the short one you just bought. Connect the male end to the female/female adapter. Wedge/tape/glue the female/female plug to the casing. You should now be able to plug in any universal rf adapter such as an NES type.

Or just buy one of these for $4

are you positive it's broken? it seems a lot of people think they have broken 2600s when in all reality they just aren't hooking it up right.

do you have the rf switch box that is required? do you have the tv on the correct channel? what kind of tv are you hooking it up to? i know that my flat screen can be very annoying to get the 2600 to work. i have to put it on a channel that gets a tv signal. a very scrambled one, mind you. but if i try to do it on a channel that gets absolutely no signal, the atari signal will not come through.

or, if you do have a switch box, it might just be broken.

there are a lot of things you need to try before you just assume that the 2600 is broken. i bought a lot of 3 "broken" 2600s a while back for very cheap. all 3 worked perfectly.
they call me the Queen of Bondo, though maybe i should be called the Queen of Epoxy Putty

i hooked up a charge/volt meter to it, and got no needle movment what so ever.

also, u are very lucky finding that. im not. its the cable that comes out of the atari that has no signal. the switch box is fine.

im going to tear it apart to salvage parts for a fb2 cart mod, but if anyone wants to buy this one, be my guest.

Wait. How are you checking it with a Multimeter? Most of these old Ataris are workhorses, they don't die easily. That cable is easy to replace, either do what hailrazer suggested or, if you have an old NES Rf plug that direct into the MB.
