router hacking?

router hacking?

i was wondering if i could get a cheap buffalo router and some how connect a microphone or a webcam and then stream the feed to my computer wirelessly.

Well as far as Router hacking, you're better off with a Linksys WRT54G(S) Model.

They are the most hackable routers out there. (And they're cheap)

Yeah, uh, no? Your idea will not work. You'll need to write a proprietary OS to run on your router, or modify an existing one like openWRT or similar. Then, you must write drivers for both microphone and webcam, somehow getting them to work with the ethernet port(s). Apart from that, you'd have to write software to stream it to the PC. I'm sorry, but I highly doubt that you're capable of those things if you asked a question like yours.

Buy ASUS WL-500gP. It has 2 USB 2.0 ports. With OpenWRT you can use webcam and USB audio card [to connect a microphone].
