Programs dying at bad times.....
So there I was, recording my demo for the possumus song....when suddenly, the program I was using to mix and master DIED! 2+ Hours of a-grade recording straight down the tubes!!!!!
Needless to say, I was quite infuriated!
So yeah, gotta vent a little.
Anybody else out there ever have a computer program (or computer) croak at a really bad time, and wind up losing everything?

The answer to 1984 is 1776!

Firefox has about a 1 in 2 chance of dying when I try to play anything with the Quicktime plugin, or am downloading 2 files while trying to open a Flash movie.
At work we do about 75% of our work in client-server programs that were developed in-house. Needless to say they pick the most inopportune times to go 6 feet under.

Yep. Laptop, writing my term paper due in 6 hours, finally done, about to do a final save, then.... BAM!! The screen backlight goes out! The inverter blew!
No way to save, no time to figure out a solution... I got lucky, and was able to pull the back panel off and shine a flashlight through. Dang, that was close.
Not really a program, but kinda relevant.

That's why you always run a VNC server with dfmirage installed, with a password.palmertech wrote:What would I have done then? I cannot print from that computer, I always email to myself (To have an online backup) then print from a desktop hooked up to the printer.
So I was indeed stuck.
For those wondering, dfmirage is a mirror driver that nearly triples the performance of VNC on windows computers (server-side)
Google chrome has yet to crash for me.

Yeah, that's what I didn't like about Google Chrome.nightwheel wrote:Google Chrome like to crash when I'm trying to run Youtube video while I'm busy writing a somewhat important post on a forum.
I started playing Tribes Vengeance again after a long time, and now whenever something good happens, like me getting the flag for capture the flag, the timer stops, the people disappear, and my gun won't fire, and I can't change weapons. It's really strange. It never happened before, but I had to reinstall the game after reinstalling Windows, so maybe that's the problem.
If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.
