An idea ( DS+GBC related)

I probably wont follow through on this but im wondering a way to create a DS that can play GB(C) games. what im thinking is i gut my GBC and rewire the screen, speakers and buttons to the DS. then make a case to put the cartridge slot and the orignal GBC compnents in that will sit attaced underneath the DS. would this work?

Sorry, but if you have to ask how to do it, you can't do it.

You can't just hook up the screen connection from the GBC to the DS, because both use proprietary digital connections, not analog video signals like regular consoles do. You would have to come up with a complex encoder and decoder setup to translate the screen calls, which would require extensive knowledge in electronics and how the respective Gameboy screens work.

If you want to play old Game Boy games on the DS, I'm sure there's some kind of emulator that runs off a flash cartridge you can use. That's the only solution, aside form carrying an actual Game Boy Color or GBA SP around with you as well.

The emulator you are thinking of is called Goomba, or Goomba Color (the gameboy color version). More information on both can be found at http://boards.pocketheaven.com .

Yes, Goomba or Goomba Color. The games run a bit slower than on the GBC though; so you might be best just using a GBA or GBC for your GBC carts. I play mine on either; as I made the addon GBA for my Mini project, I use that for playing GBC games.

There is also Lameboy for DS, which runs GB/GBC really well.

You might be able to remove some plastic from the ds cartridge slot so it accepts gbc games and then modify the coding of lameboy to play off of the cartridge instead of the rom.
