snes in a gba flashcart or that one guy's nokia 3650 mod?

My friend wants a snes handheld of anykind for his birthday and I was wondering which would be the most economically cheap/best snes emulator or portable one could make, and I put this in this forum because it has to do with handheld devices so please don't ask if this should be in the snes forum.

Really? I'm not gonna give him a $55 dollar birthday present, I was thinking more of $25-$30ish

Do you happen to have a spare copy of snes gba emulator? you seem like you have pretty much everything everone wants.

Well if you buy a GBA, it's not like you can just "put" the emulator on it, you'd need a flash cart. The emulators themselves are all over the internet, just go look for one. Though I must say, a GBA isn't going to give you full speed or compatibility with SNES emulation. Then again, neither is the GP2x, but it's closer.

A spare copy? As in a flashcart, or perhaps a perma-burned cart? Oe do you just need the ROM? I am out of blank carts at the moment, and I was not planning on getting more anytime soon.

Also... GBA SNES emulation absolutely sucks. It has no sound support at all, cannot run mode7 games, or superfx games. The only game it can really run is Super Mario World, and that is thanks to YEARS of optimizations. Almost all other games have severe graphical glitches, and that is if you can even get them to run.

In short...There is a reason people make SNES portables. And also a reason why they cost more than $20-30.

@CTF: Do you have a gp2x perhaps? The last few games that did not work (Like SMRPG) have gotten fixed, and I think it runs pretty much every game for the SNES now. And, it runs SMW at 60fps.

I did a year or two ago, but I don't now. I've heard that all games run now, but transparency support still sucks and framerates remain only in the 15-20 range on intensive games.

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll find snes emulation for under $30.

But then again, if he has a computer, and you don't mind a bit of illegality, I have an idea for you. You buy/make a usb snes controller, download a torrent with all the snes roms in it, download a snes emulator, burn them to a disk/put on a flash drive, and give all this to him. Looking at $20 for a usb snes controller, maybe an extra $10 for a flash drive big enough for all those games, and that gets him all those snes games he wants.

Then again, you say he wants it handheld, and if that's a necessity, then disregard everything I said.

As for the GBA thing, you'll likely be disappointed with the compatibility(and lack of sound) and limited buttons. A lot of people love the SNES games that had additional chip sets in the cartridge, and none of those work on the GBA SNES emulator.
