OK well let's nail it down to one band that will do a song. Basic things:
1) Song is used for end credits
2) Needs to start immediately with a guitar riff (like Faith No More's Epic, the current temp song) so it makes a good transition when the credits pop in.
3) About 2-3 minutes long.
Please email me RE details as we can discuss, phone, web cam, whatever.
We just did a review of the movie today and we're pretty confident the editing is where we want it. So yes, a release by Halloween looks doable, and we'd need the song at least a week before that.
Let's do this thing! LEROY JENKINS!

I'll record a rhythm guitar track along to a click track. Than I can upload it and that should make it easy for people to multi-track with.

P.S.: for people interested in working on this with me, do you have any ideas in mind for tempo, key, chord progression, etc?
EDIT: When the song is finished I can master it as well.
EDIT EDIT: Before we do this we need a list of everybody who will participate in the 'Benheck Band'.

If you don't mind me asking, what software do you use for recording? mastering? and what do you use as hardware for recording. No offense to anyone, not crushing anyone's talent, not cutting any one down...
Do you guys honestly think that you can get a band together, especially those of you who aren't full time musicians, come up with a song in seriously in 20 days? everyone has to have some kind of compatable software or way to record and get everyone to contribute effectively to the project and not stall the rest of the band. Most of the people here are as I can tell are likely to be musicians and those who are will understand that. Do not misunderstand me here, I am interested in seeing this virtual band thing work and hope that something can be accomplished. I just want people to understand that there is a commitment factor here and its not something that can be done on a whim. If you have been in a band, you will understand the need to not hold up everyone.
That being said...
Ben, what is the best way to get submissions to you? And can you shoot me a synopsis or a movie file so that I can write up a lyrics set? Oh and I have a sound bite of the song for you..

However the real problem will probably be a case of "too many cooks spoil the stew"
@ghosst
this is my set up

16 channel desk into an 8 track ADAT recorder, then to computer with various mic's for different instruments (SM57 for guitar, E600 condenser for brass, General dynamic for vocal)

NICE! We use Guitar Rig currently for our recording, Sonar for mixing, and I think 1 more...
It'll be interesting to see how it all comes together. I was more worried about the whole "Me too" aspect of it. Then it becomes a waste of peoples time when you have a bunch flakes who said they'd deliver their end of it.

I use Cakewalk Sonar 7 Production Edition for recording (and a lot of VST plugins) and iZotope Ozone for mastering. I have an AKG Perception large diaphragm condenser mic and an SM57 for vocals but for guitar I plug directly into my M-Audio Omni I/O. This plugs into my Delta 66 sound card. I then model the sound with AmpliTube. I don't have a decent pair or monitors or an acoustically treated room to put them in so I mix with some AKG Reference K701 headphones. As far as MIDI goes I have some Yamaha keyboard that I can't remember the model of. This is nowhere near the amount of gear that I want to have, but I get by with it.ghosstt wrote:If you don't mind me asking, what software do you use for recording? mastering? and what do you use as hardware for recording. The Benheck Band idea is tricky but can be possible. Keep in mind however that I still plan on making a song with my band.

I've just got a MacBook w/ Garageband. No Hi-Fi equipment here, so I might not be able to submit anything to the project, though I would love to review it!
