We've (well, maybe I should say you guys, since I haven't played any video game besides Solitaire in a while :P ) been waiting for it so long, and Jack Thompson has been disbarred. Yup, happy fellas, aren't you guys?

But don't take my word for it, look at some other place on the internet. It must be true that way, right? http://kotaku.com/5054772/jack-thompson-disbarred

ah, he's just a misguided old fool. He works (until 30 days from now :P) so hard to vilify games because he hates them or really believes they're bad .....If he wasn't so ignorant I'd say let him defend idiot cases against videogames, but since he believes in it so dogmatically (that video games are a huge problem in our society) he's just undermining the system (because he's so biased and doesn't think logically or rationally)....

Thank God for his disbarment .

Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

The blessed day has come. Jack Thompson is finally Disbarred. So long you idiot and I hope to not see you around anymore. And I hope no tries to take your place.

Now if you excuse me Jack, I'm off to play a violent game in you honor.

Ahem... I'm not law-ey. So here's the definition wikipedia provided.

Disbarment is a revocation of a lawyer's ability to practice law or argue cases.

Generally disbarment is imposed as a sanction for conduct indicating that an attorney is not fit to practice law, willfully disregarding the interests of a client, or engaging in fraud which impedes the administration of justice. In addition, any lawyer who is convicted of a felony is automatically disbarred in most jurisdictions.

Eh, I dunno. In all honesty, I think I have to defend the guy. If you've listened to any of his off-the-cuff interviews such as this one, you'll see that he's not exactly crazy at all. In fact, there's not much there I disagree with him. There's a big difference, IMO, between the person Jack Thompson and the lawyer Jack Thompson. Being crazy, out there, in-your-face, and best of all, famous, as a lawyer isn't an entirely bad thing. Extreme? Yeah, but that's what his clients pay him for. Again, not saying the things he defended were right, but the man himself isn't "crazy", he just knows how to play the system. Well, until now he did.

I think he just pushed too many people's buttons :?...

Sure he can be outrageous, but when it starts to piss people off, they do something :P. He does make good points about age restriction, but I think he over exaggerates the consequences of video games on crime. In that interview you posted, CTF, he says "there's plenty of blame to go around". The problem is that I don't think he realizes that most of that blame is on the criminal. Most of the criminal's environment, too, are not videogames but people. Perhaps a criminal may play a videogame, and that may influence him, but ultimately it's the parents or some kind of social environment's and the criminal's personal fault...

So yes, we should enforce age restrictions (easy for me to say now I'm 19, almost 20 :P), but other than that games should be as free as movies and whatever media that has violence and sex and whatever as subject material.

yes, that seems to be the most common gamer response; I play video games, and I don't do what they do in the game!

Not a bad argument if enough people proclaim it :)...

So I will, too! I'm going to make some chili dogs and play GTA and not then go kill someone :P!

Now that Jack Thompson is out of the way. May we now focus attention to another person who put's a bad taste in gamers mouth, Uwe Boll?

About screwing time!

The world would be a much better place if, oh I don't know, people maybe took responsibility for their own actions.

Jack, you had this coming. We gamers outnumber people like you. And we are a force not to be underestimated. The same thing happened to Kevin McCullough (And somebody else... But I cant remember the name or how they were "taught"). He learned his lesson to not mess with us. So now have you.

Good riddance, and may the flees of a thousand camels infest your armpits.

thank God he's gone.
I mean i enjoy MK fatalities, and i think it's fun to steal police cars and run over pedestrians in GTA, but i would never do something like that in real life. Jack just didn't understand. In fact, he's probably barely played a game.
rest in peace, Ronnie James Dio! \m/

Take a gander at this:

http://kotaku.com/5054801/thompson-resp ... disbarment

http://search.twitter.com/search?max_id ... sbarred%22
Jack Thompson is so disbarred he can't even play basketball because it's on a court!
Jack Thompson is so disbarred, sharks can eat him without violating the tenets of professional courtesy.
Jack Thompson is so disbarred he can't even eat at the Food Court!
Jack Thompson is so disbarred, he can't even file briefs in his underwear drawer.
Jack Thompson is so disbarred he can't even practice the law of gravity.
