Congrats, man! I have a Neptune in the works myself, but I could never keep it stable like yours(it crashes after being left on for several minutes). Nice job! If you have some tips I could use, I'd like to know them.

(In French, in case you don't understand English too well/En francais en cas que tu ne comprends pas l'anglais trop bien)
Mes felicitations! Beau travail! Laisse quelques conseils si t'en as.

hello ace

for my tuto , it's exclucively in french !!!

@lovablechevy - Yes, I've already seen these guides. Also, I was told by Sega-16 member OoXxXoO(see here, that's the thread at Sega-16 where I keep track of all progress on my Neptune: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread ... 299&page=3 - first post on the page) that the plastic piece sitting between the cartridge slot and the bottom RF shield may be part of the problem. I'm also doing things a little differently. Like Remyar, I've kept the metal rings over the ribbon cables, and unlike the other Neptunes I've seen, I'm keeping the metal plating over the cartridge slot.

@remyar - (English) - Aluminum foil covered in plastic, you say? I guess my theory of "cross talk" may be correct. It's weird, though, because I use IDE ribbon cable, which is supposed to be perfect for a job like this. You used IDE ribbon cable, right? Should I maybe replace them with 22AWG wire?

Would help if you read the guide  IDE ribbon cable is good if the signal is built to travel long distances like harddrive connections. Sega never intended there to be an extra 5" of wire causing loads of inductance on the system.

I guess I DO need the aluminum foil(I had a piece of corrugated cardboard holding everything in place, go figure). But, my ribbon cables are in bunches of about 7 cables or less, so I don't know if that may cause cross-talk(doubt it). Also, the rings over the 32X ribbon cables are not smashed out, but I did like Remyar: invert the cables. I don't think it'd cause problems to make the entire thing fit. Time to resolder the 32X into my Genesis.

By the way, has anyone ever dealt with a VA4 Genesis 2 motherboard?
