gamecube portable

im making a gamecube portabel...so far i took it out of the case and. nad i plug it in to to the poweradn the CD doesnt move. i noticed its only starts moving wen the cover is on though...is there a way to make it turn w/o the cover?

you can see two black plastic pins, hold them down with something or bridge the soldering points
