genesis help
I just got a genesis2 at a yard sale. it works, but sometimes a game will freeze. sonic 2 freezes randomly, and had it happen to ms. pacman. sonic1 won't even play. the only thing I can find wrong with it is that the LED is shattered (don't know how it happened, but opened up the case, and there is the LED with most of its plastic missing). so I want to know if a missing LED can cause my freezing problems. I cleaned all the games BTW.

Clean the cartslot using this method: Get a Q-Tip, dip it in rubbing alcohol, and then for each pin, just lightly scrub. A shattered power LED shouldn't hinder a console at all. Hmm, maybe the carts are at fault? Did you buy the carts at the garage sale along with the system?

ok then, I'll check
EDIT: all the solder and pins are secure. I just don't feel like going out and buying a new ganesis. oh, and btw, the old owner may have been a bad modder. there are several tiny melt spots around the case that look like a soldering iron could have caused. so I am thinking maybe the old owner tried to replace the LED, and just broke pieces off of it, and then fried part of the mobo with the soldering iron.
