Trying to get homebrew running on your PSP? Want to add a screen light to your Game Boy? Trying to figure out how to work your GP2X? By popular demand, discuss it in here! (This forum is for pre-built handhelds, NOT custom made portables!)
Well Ive given up on GBA video capture (for now...), thinking i'll probably go with a GC and GB player/transverter or similar. I am now interested in making a new case for my GBA, and wondering if anyone else has had any success in relocating the GBA screen? Would it be hard?
Thanks in advance
Edit: BTW i am only interested in using the original GBA LCD
You can move the original GBA screen a bit, however the ribbon cable is quite short, so unless you can find a longer cable and manage to connect it to the existing ribbon cable, you probably won't be able to. Alternative is a TV out card, and use whatever you want for a screen and wherever you want it - get a 2.5", 3". 3.5", 4" or 5.4" screen, or bigger. See the other GBA existing thread for the card options.
I know you say you want to use existing GBA screen, but don't you find it rather dark??
I'm not moving it far, so the stock ribbon cable will be long enough, I was mainly worried about the physical side of mounting the screen, IE; how well would I be able to secure the screen to a new medium?
A good idea would be to put something like perspex behind the screen to keep it close to the screen window and then use hot glue to secure it in place.
