What's your budget for the battery? To get that kind of capacity in the size implied from the render, it'd be best to get a 12Volt Li-Ion battery intended to externally power portable DVD players. However, these can easily run over $100 by themselves.

Most around here seem to go with NiMH batteries intended to power RC cars, due to their cheapness and decent capacity. However, they are larger for the capacity they give.

That sounds like it'll help.

Just wondering, does anyone else remember the travel battery pack that came out for the Gamecube? I'm thinking about possibly modding one of those for the battery, but I have no idea on the amount of time they hold a charge.......

Ya, I remember that thing, but I sold it with my Gamecube when I bought a Wii (I kind of regret diong that honestly). As far as I remember, that thing held it's charge well, but it's not exactly ideal for a portable because it's huuuge. Sorry man.
You could have an external mount or something though...

Not to sound like a nagger... But could we see some pics of the oversized DS? To be completely honest, I am not sure I believe you about it, mainly because only one person has obtained video out off the DS, and he designed a custom video decoder, then disappeared off the face of the earth. If you have really made it (Or done anything at all) please tell us how, it is valuable information. Oversized gameboy, same deal.

It's fine, nagging is normal and very much expected, but I did those projects before I ever heard of this site. There aren't any pictures ( only took pictures of my finished projects {including non technologic projects})

On the oversized GBA SP, I used 6 replacement LCD screens, and three chinese GBA screen adapters, that I soldered together, to allow the video to be played over the six screens instead of only on one. I mimicked it with leftover parts for the main screen of the oversized DS. With the batteries I never changed over to a larger capacity, so there was never enough power to play for more than a couple minutes. The touch screen for the OS DS wouldn't work the same way that he screens did because I didn't have the right adapters to use. I only got the OS touch screen to work once, but it didn't work again after that one time. I put them in sanded down wood casing, 3 ply plywood though, nothign too special.

In the end I scrapped them both and sold the parts to pay rent and get some food.

not entirely sure I understand how that works. how do you get each screen to show a different part of the picture?

I had to splice cables. I spliced the cable from the SP to two different areas of the first adapter, and then from there split additional cables to the two other adapters. then from the screens back to the two adapters. I had to rearrange the screens to be in the right spots (six screens aren't gonna go into the right spots automatically. There were some problems with the quality though, and I had to use quiet a few screens before i got it right. I didn't get the quality to the same as it normally is on the single screen.

You can't just "splice cables" to get your video to display over 6 different screens. Sorry, but I call bs on this one.

Ya valium is right I've tried that b4 and no, it does not work.
You'd have to get some type of decoder to split up the image but even then those things are big. (They use them @ some sporting goods stores with all of those plasmas strung together to make a giant tv).
I'm not buying it.
Also if you had the money to buy that crap in the first place why did you sell it 4 food? No cash flow?
