Desoldering braid never works for me.

So this stuff never works right for me here is what I do.

Set iron to 30W, make sure it is good n' hot! Take out some braid and put braid on top of what I want desolder'd, put iron onto of braid.
???????????
Nothing happens nomatter how long I hold it there?

You need to press the iron's tip through to the solder; the idea is that the solder melts and the braid sucks it up. Works fine for me, use it a lot.

Using flux helps for stubborn solder

Yeah without flux its pretty well useless IMO

I tend to wiggle components just desoldered with pliers or screwdriver or whatever to pry the component free and off the board. Works for me!
