Where do I get a switch like this...

Whoever finds me a switch like this wins a free hug!

So I can have 10 wires soldered to the pins on each row.

Actially, maybe 4 rows because one row needs to be outgoing?

to attach genesis/SNES/NES controller to the same chip that makes them work in USB.

Largest I've seen in a connector like that is five pole (5 pins) double throw(two position). I've only encountered them on a serial to parallel (and vice versa) converter that my brother has.

You might be able to find a rotary switch that could do what you want, though. Also, are you sure you need to switch all 9 pins?

I agree that a switch like that would be useful on occasions. I know someone once talked about a logic chip that can switch between up to 16 lines, but no idea about it.

Option, as mentioned already, is to use a few mini switches, I use two pole double throw ones; five of these together would do what you indicate, although you would need to connect them together to do what you want. This however would be far from ideal to use.

Other option is to build in three female VGA type plugs into your case, one for Genesis, one for SNES and one for NES connections; connect the controllers to a male VGA type plug; you then only have to plug the controller you want into the unit. You might be able to make it so you only need one female port for all. VGA plugs are 9 pin, that may not be enough, if so, find an alternative, using the same principle. You could even use a female GameBoy cart slot and adapt game carts for the other connections - like I am using on my current project - you get 32 connectors that way. You could therefore use pins 1-10 for Genesis, 11-20 for SNES, 21-30 for NES; which in essence might solve your problem. Just a bit of lateral thought... you use one female port for all, then connect your wiring to the GameBoy cart and use that as a plug into the port. 32 individual connections.

If you can find one of those old manual parallel port switches you can even have 4x25, but even the actual switches in them are huge and thus unsuited for any portable project.

The serial port versions (4x9) should be smaller, but still not small enough for a portable.

You can probably just get away with switching the ground and/or power pins on the respective encoder chips.

Ok. So yeah a 10 pole switch is the wrong approach.

You want to have all these controllers connected at the same time or something? Wouldn't it be easier to just plug in the one you want?
