WTB Portable NES
Hello I am new to this forum and I am interested in purchasing a finished fully functional BenHeck style portable NES. I probably could build one but I really don't have the time. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount for it. I love the idea that these units are made from the real guts of the system rather then those system clones that are out there. Anyone out there willing to help me out? thank you
price range
somwhere along the lines of 250 to 300. But it would be like if someone agreed to build one it would be like half now then half when they are done. I don't know they can send me a pic that its finished and I'd send the rest with the money needed for shipping. If someone wants to sell me one already made that they don't want even better. Maybe I'm rambling. Ok there is my price range more or less.
From what I've read on these forums, most portable NES seem to be made from NOAC (Nintendo On A Chip) - and *not* the guts of a real NES.
And while I am sure there are advantages to getting a custom built one, you can get a manufactured portable NES for less than $50 on ebay. It's called an FC Mobile.

Of course, I'll be happy to sell you one of those for $200 - $300 8^)

you should try and make one yourself. even if it took a long time, it would feel great to be playing on something that you made yourself. also, it would be completely biult to your specifications. besides, to many people lately just pop in and want someone to make a portable for them.
rest in peace, Ronnie James Dio! \m/
I didn't see anything in those threads that said it sucked - other than the A & B being in the wrong place. But there were even instructions on how to switch that.
Don't expect compatiblity to be 100% - there may be a few games that don't work, (like less than 4%). But that's going to be true of any NOAC based system - or really anything other than a NES or Famicom proper.

I destroyed a dead SNES once to see what is inside - with a hammer - does that count as console hacking?

build it myself
I guess I will just build it myself after I finish building this ugly wireless ps3 arcade controller for a friend. I say its ugly because I can make it but I am not good on aestthetics. And he is paying me. Its almost done just needs a body to protect the wiring. How many of you have built a portable nes?

one of them mentioned the build quality, maybe I forgot to link to an extra topic but said OP had something break fairly quick.chad78 wrote:I didn't see anything in those threads that said it sucked - other than the A & B being in the wrong place.
