cart slot mod
I've been thinking about this for a while now. I have a classic gray toaster NES and I (along with everyone else) find the zero insertion force connector annoying at the best of times. I wanted to mod my NES to take carts directly into a standard card edge connector slot like what was used in the NES 2. The system would then operate similarly to the Generation NEX as far as how the cart loads into the system. Has anyone attempted this mod? Anyone have suggestions on how to make this mod work? I don't see why it couldn't be done, but I can't think of a specific plan to do so. I think I'd keep the big black plastic cart holder in there, but it would need some modifications to be completely horizontal. *Request for comments.*

It's really pretty easy.
I did it a LONG time ago and so did another member on the DigitalPress site:

Not much info there but it gives you an idea

I think I'll just rip apart a couple of game genies to do the mod. Does anyone have some pictures or diagrams of the innards of a game genie I could look at? I'm thinking of playing around with making a toggle-able internal game genie. After all, I am ripping up game genies here.
Speaking of game-altering devices, has anyone heard of any other devices like the game genie? I know of the pro action replay, but I think it's PAL only. Plus, it's super expensive and kinda rare to be ripping up. I've also heard of the pro action rocky, but it seems kinda useless and famicom only. I'm surprised nobody has made a game genie-like home brew device with more than three code entries and maybe a trainer.
