In this thread amazing unboxing stories (56k is stupid)

Post by Bibin »

Everyone tell your amazing stories of old game unboxing.

I'll start.

Recently a friend of mine came across a bunch of unopened Atari 2600 games (just like 4, but still awesome). He told me I could have one in exchange for a few NES games, so I agreed.

He had not one but two copies of Gravitar, but only one was unopened. I chose the unopened one, but afterwards he told me that he wanted the box from the unopened one and the manual after I was done, but I could keep the cart. That's fine, I thought, so after opening (a glorious moment) the gravitar box, removing that old shrinkwrap, he gave me the battered box of the other one that was missing the manual. The battered box is still in pretty good condition.

The cart works first try when inserted into a 2600; it's awesome.

Scans of battered but still good box and the cartridge (with both labels intact):

Why would you open it, e-bay would pay tons for an unopened 2600 game.

Does anyone really use 56k anymore? If so, you shouldn't even use the Internet. Just steal your neighboors wifi.

Well, its not like any of us have that many stories of "unboxing" things like this. We all unbox stuff we get off of our favorite place: The internet. You know, like the free samples from TI?

:D

Nearly a year ago I bought a sealed copy of Mega Man 64 from goodwill.

I haven't opened it and don't want to either

I really enjoyed Unboxing my 360 last month. :)

But when I was unboxing my Wii at the end of May last year (not this year), I was literally shaking with excitement, now I haven't touched it since I got my 360 :(

there are literally tons of unopened 2600 games that sell for next to nothing (usually around $5-$8 ). that's how i've gotten my nearly 60 complete 2600 games. i just started recollecting a few months ago. granted, some cost a bit more than others. but i've never paid more than $20 for an unopened 2600 game.
they call me the Queen of Bondo, though maybe i should be called the Queen of Epoxy Putty

I always buy second hand stuff so it's hardly ever boxed :(

But I should be getting a disabled student's grant soon so I'll be splashing out on a new stupidly expensive laptop to open. Pics will follow :D
