3300 mah battery not powering

I got one of those radioshack 3300 mah batteries because people said I needed 3-5 amps and it has 3.3 so I got it and now it doesnt power my N64 and im not sure what to do, can anybody help please?

What's the voltage of the battery?

I believe its 7.2 volts.

You did hook it up to a voltage regulator for the 3.3 volt line, right?

Yeah sorry its 7.2v and I hooked up the pth0800 voltage regulator so I thought it would be enough to power it but I guess I wrong. Would it work if I hooked up 2 7.2v batteries in parallel because I have a 7.2v 2000 mah Ni-Cd battery lyin around and then use the regulator thing from harshboys diagram.

Im no expert but I don't think it is a good idea to mix ni-mh and ni-cd batteries.

Maybe it can't handle the amp draw?

Well, if you wired it right, the led turns on. Check everything else first. Use a multimeter to see if your 3.3v converter is giving out 3.3v.

Just to be safe I desoldered everything and rewired it all back up and it powers up just fine

but now when it turns on the screen goes black like when the system goes on then straight to a brown

Any help here?

TO help, can you draw us up a paint diagram of your power, and then list everything you've relocated and what not?

Try a different game?

Sure, i'll post it tomorrow cause I have to get to bed to be at drivers ed at 6 a.m. but the wiring for the power is the same as harshboys diagram. I could just take a picture of the wiring so its more accurate than a paint drawing.
