I found an alternative to tact switches

yup!

look what i found:

yes! its a small, self contained rubber dome switch! for those of us who cant stand TACT switches, but want ease of installation. it feels pretty close to the standard rubber dome in a controller.

now, i found the one above in a busted Genesis, it was the reset button.

but fear not! you need not tear apart stacks of sega systems to obtain these devices! for it is a standard ALPS switch, and i have found it!

they alse have a few others, with more travel or higher force required to push it.

Sweet. I think Rekarp was using those on his Retro Duo. I didn't realize they were in old Genesis consoles.

I found that these work great. On D-pads you have to separate the tacts father so you don't get a "rolling" D-pad
