weird PS2 slim problem
There's a PS2 I'm trying to fix (I do console repair at Play N Trade) but I can't seem to pinpoint where the problem is coming from. When it boots, normally the "ball of light", if you will, kind of floats around waiting for you to put in a game or go into the browser, etc. Well, on this one, the ball just stays in one spot and when you put in a disc it won't read it. The drive is spinning (though I can't tell if its spinning full speed) and I already tried cleaning the laser with alcohol (and I know I did it right b/c I do it ALL the time), so what would cause a PS2 slim to do that? It seems to me its something to do with the BIOS too because its not just a read error because they ball is stationary instead of mobile like it should be. Has anyone had this happen before and figured out what caused it? The system looks to be in really good shape too, almost brand new, thats the most mysterious part about it.
