Video to VGA?

Post by HotDog-Cart »

http://www.uxcell.com/vga-adapter-cable ... -3505.html

A few questions about this.

1) Do I need to use both inputs (Svideo and Composite) to get a video, or could I just plug a compisite video source into the Composite video input and then plug the VGA end into my monitor?

2) Do these work well?

3) Do you think it'd work for the PS3?

4) It mentions "Video Card". Do I need to TV Turner for this to work, or can I just plug it into a VGA monitor and use it?

You're looking at it backwards. It's a VGA to Svideo/Composite converter. That description (and entire site, for that matter) is full of horrible Engrish, but it does have this line:

A composite to VGA adapter needs far more circuitry to separate the red, green, blue, and sync signals. That just combines the signals to one or two leads.

But it also says: Record PC image by Video or S-Video recorder, such as play game result on PC

Ive bought from this site many times, its not a scam. Also bic, Ive seen adapters work like that before.

Like this one: Component to VGA: http://cgi.ebay.com/15-PIN-VGA-HD15-RGB ... dZViewItem

and this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-TO-RCA-S-VIDEO- ... dZViewItem

But, these are VGA to RCA/Component Outputs not inputs, right?

(Like, theyre meant to get VGA and output to a TV right? And not the other way around like Take RCA and output to a VGA monitor?)

Rough translation: "Record PC video with your VCR, for example make your own game replays."

Component isn't as heavily mixed as Composite, so it intermixes with VGA more readily. It's not going to take composite and split it up to work on your PC monitor.

Why would you want to do that, anyway? Even if it does work it won't fix the horrible picture quality of Composite, and it will probably accentuate the defects. (Dot crawl and color bleeding, among others.) You want an HDMI to DVI converter, if it's for a PS3.

Both of those eBay adapters go from VGA to video plugs, just like the first adapter you linked to.

"15 PIN VGA/HD15/RGB to 3 RCA COMPONENT TV/HDTV CABLE"

"VGA TO RCA/S-VIDEO COMPOSITE Converter CABLE ADAPTER"

I'm not saying there aren't any video to VGA converters (those TV tuner boxes for monitors generally have that functionality), I'm saying none of the adapters you listed so far will do the job.

You want something like this.
