I thought that's what we've been saying all along, that Macs are good computers and to get a PC with similar specs you're going to pay a similar amount. The reason the Macbook Pro runs Vista so well is because it's pretty high end, which is why it costs a lot, not because Apple jacks up their prices (at least not much more than any other manufacturer).cowsgoquack101 wrote:The reason that the Mac runs windows decently is because it's running off of the same damn hardware as a window's pc is; this doesn't mean that it runs ungodly better than the PC though.

Macs are for people who THINK they are cool but are not, and PCs are for Normal people.
yay, my infotech class got new Core 2 Duo PCs, while the rest of the school uses P4 PCs and some classes still use low end P3 computers.
They were originally preloaded with Vista Basic, but the went back down to Xp because Vista wasn't working with their ghost imaging software.
hehehehe I can get Vista now if I wanted to because ALL the computers have Vista Basic product keys on them

I have been collecting money for it for about 2 years when I finally could buy one and I'm really happy with it.
I had some bad experience with a windows computer, it kept crashing and internet never worked and with this mac I haven't got a single problem yet.

As far as Macs go, I can't say their for kids in college who have rich parents. My aunt has one, which replaced her aging Dell. She's enjoying it, save for the fact that when she first got it she didn't get that 1 hour lesson on how to use it. Other then that a Mac will work for anyone. They're good computers that can do anything save for be a platform for real PC gaming.
Windows, like I said before XP is tolerable. If Microsoft were to drop the stupid registry, disable remost access by default, and yeah not relay any of my information back to Microsoft HQ. Then I'm sure it'd be a great OS.
Vista... where to start. I got WoW installed on it but it runs laggier then on my laptop that has XP pro. There is too much crap running, just like XP, and there is also too much software installed by default which you can't say if you want.
I personally like the UNIX/BSD view, and primarily PC-BSD. They have you install a base OS, then you install only the software you want. Hell you even have to install OOo on your own. It's how most computer should be set up, you have a base Windows install, and if you want that stupid scrap booking program you install it.
As for the Mac Air, yeah junk. I wouldn't buy that thing if it were the only new computer on the market.
As for Apple charging too much, that's been covered.
In the end it's what you want to put up with? Me personally give me a nice powerful OS with a GUI as simple to use and look as 7.5.5.

My only taste of Linux is the default Xandros that came on my Eee 701. I really didn't like it. It was crippled, hard to do anything. But what can you expect, it was made for people who are new to computers, guess Asus didn't want people copulate around.
After a few days I installed an nLite'd Xp. It works, and I know how to do everything, so that's all I can ask.
As for macs, I used to use them at my old schools, they're alright I guess, wouldn't ever buy one though. Played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 fairly well, so that was a bonus.

What's wrong with Macs being for people willing to invest some money in a high quality computer that they prefer the OS on? I'm not rich, and I can do 'hard stuff.' I'm not a fan of gross generalizations...SonyPortableizer wrote:Macs are for people who cant do hard stuff

Why are people who sound like they've never used OS X making rash generalizations of it and its users based on idiotic stereotypes and preconceived ideas with no basis in fact?
It's for outdated consoles, but this comic still gets the point across.

OS X needs its own Project Mojave.
