I got grounded off of portabalizing

Better then beating yourself up. With me if I fail a class thats $866 in the hole, gone, wasted. Thats the money I have for college not my parents paying my way. Consider yourselfs luck, when money like that is spent you cant justify not working and getting things done.

there are some classes im luck to pass let alone get a c. but most i get Bs so its no big deal

It's kind of funny, my parents aren't very concerned about how my grades are, as long as it's not D-range or lower. They try to have me do better on classes I generally do well in (Spanish, computer classes, math, etc.) but I'm the one that generally motivates me to do well in school.

One of my teachers told me that a parent cried during parent-teacher conferences because of their kids grade. (English) The grade? A friggin A-. I hate it when parents are perfectionists when it comes to their kids.

Bad grades and I'm acctually trying = my parents love

Good grades and I'm not trying = my parents hate.

All they care about is my damn effort. I bring home the first A i have gotten in a highschool math test, and they asked if i tryed. I threw it in there face and freaked out, like (if your sensitive to swearing dont look at what i type below...)like copulate all i want is a copulate good job sam, glad you did that well way to go sam, all i get is this crap about me trying, All i ask for is a copulate good job sam... I never get it.... /rant

pfft... trying in school is something you should save for college. I never try, infact, I haven't done my homework in my math class since September, but I'm still getting an A

Now english class is another story

My parents don't cry, but I do get that "do better next time" crap if I get an A-. Coming from a family where my Mom did my Dad's homework...

There's one parent who freaks out whenever the kid dosnt get an A. Its just F'n stupid. I have no idea what the problem with the parents are. [/rant]

that's right, there was an article in TIME recently about parents hovering around teachers and stuff like that... kind of interesting from what I read.

Honestly, here's what I think.

If the child gets a D or an F, the student (and parents in this case) are notified.

That way, they can't complain about if the child gets a B or an A- until the end of that year.

My college works that way, and so should high school.

I agree with you jack, some times kids need a quick backhand to put them in there place.
