PC/MAC!!!

Grossaffe, that is exactly why half of the people buying PCs don't get Macs; and even most Mac users agree, Macs are way overpriced. But anything Apple? That's a little too far i think. You think $70 is too much for a 2GB Shuffle? and $350 too much for 160GB iPod Classic? Now, I by no means am rich, but I think those prices are fair. Have you had a bad experience with Apple?

I'm a Windows user by availability. I've never had access to a Mac. I've heard positive things about them to the point where I'm interested in trying one, but I don't have the money to invest in one. Every computer I own is rescued from the trash and repaired to do what I need it to.

I'm interested in trying Linux, but I'm not sure if the programs I use on a daily basis (Sibelius, Ministry Scheduler, Cakewalk) are Linux compatible.

I really don't care for Vista at all. I find it very unstable, and I often have trouble with it supporting my peripherals, whether I have the installation disc or not. It also has issues with my most frequently used programs. XP required several updates to run the programs initially, but now, it performs flawlessly. I just haven't had that same compatibility with Vista, and that disappoints me.

Yes, that is too much for what they deliver. there are other mp3 players out there that deliver more for less money. While I would love a shuffle for some hardware modding, $70 is way too much for that. I could get a sansa clip which is of comparable size, costs less, and even has a little screen on it. $350 for an mp3 player? no thanks. I'll keep my sansa e260 which cost $112 at the time of purchase (plays music, videos, FM Radio, built-in voice recorder, FM recorder) compared to the ipod nano (plays music) which for comparable storage cost $200 or so.

I don't have any specific negative experiences with apple, they're just too overpriced and frankly, I don't like the elitist vibe they give off. you're buying a computer/mp3 player, not a lifestyle.

Linux has this program called WINE which is a compatibilty layer that can run many windows applications. So if there isn't a linux equivalent version of the programs you use (i'm unfamiliar with those you mentioned), you can try to run the windows programs through WINE and see if they work.

Windows all the way, I can't stand any Mac OS. Besides, why pay $1,000+ extra for a pretty piece of crap?

Ultimately, it comes down to this: Windows can do everything OS X can do, and vice-versa. Windows, however, has a much larger install base, so obviously they're doing something better. So there you go.

Don't think that Microsoft doesn't overprice too. They are helping corporations like Dell and HP by overpricing the Vista disks, yet selling them cheap to manufacturers so they can make cheaper computers. It increases the number of sales and number of parts in our landfills. However, I won't let this turn into an Al Gore '08 thread, so let that be the last environmental note shall we? It all comes down to preference, and what you need your computers to do. All computers (or OS') can do certain things better that others, and vice versa. OS X has reliability and simplicity, while Windows remains open and customizable. And now, I ask that a moderator lock this thread before it gets out of control. Well, you did turn this into an environmental thread, which is another reason I hate Apple; they're cashing on on the great global warming swindle and making a bundle off it, just like that fat pig Al Gore.

That's funny, since nearly every popular linux distrubution is bloated with themes that directly rip off apple's graphic style. Your Web 2.0 style Tux should be set on fire if you truly hate anything related to apple.

Well, Windows has this thing called Windows that does the same thing, but a lot better. Wine is full of problems, from basic text rendering to file access permissions to simulated registry failures - it's simply not a replacement for using the real thing. If need be, just download VirtualBox and run a Windows VM if you can't do anything else.

I'm a windows user but I've tried all of them a little bit. I wouldn't mind owning a mac except for the fact that I can part together a windows computer for about 1/3 the cost and have it do just as much. Linux is a pain in the ass. Maybe I'm too dumb to figure it out but it took my a while to get sound on the thing then I couldn't find video drivers, then I couldn't do anything but look at the pretty UI.

I bought an old iMac G3 when I was down in Florida and it has OS 9 on it. It doesn't have sound and it's the most complicated thing to figure out how to do something on it. I did however get it to go online for a brief second before it crashed the computer. Safari didn't work but IE 5 did.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Sounds like you should reinstall the OS, or maybe it has some kind of hardware issue. OS 9 is really not that complicated.

Windows user here.

Only used a mac with OS X once, and that was around the end of the previous school year, and me and a bunch of friends in the Digital Media class were TRYING to play Quake, it took the damn mac like 5 min to connect to the host computer for LAN, and the game crashed on me like 4-6 times, and the Mac it self twice.

I agree with Shocky, you pay more for a pretty piece of crap.

I-pods are way overpriced too, I would never pay what they ask for those pieces of junk, I would MUCH rather get a Zune.

I'm pc user because my parents buy the computers, but if it was up to me I would buy the windows/mac hybrid. Our science room has then and they are amazing.

I have a Dell and a Macbook. Both are good for separate things.

Dell plays my games and does everything. I have TinyXP Rev09 installed as my OS.

Macbook does everything but games on the go. I do play WoW and Halo on my Macbook, they both run fine. I have Leopard and TinyXP Rev09 installed as my OS.

I only started to like Macs when Apple switched to Intel, so if they never would have switched to Intel I would probably own some other brand laptop that can do more and cost less but looks like an ugly truck.

1) It's iPod, not I-pod
2) Can your beloved Zune play SNES, GBA, GBC, NES, Games, etc? Nope.
3) You cant tell me that an iPod Classic is overpriced for what you get, and iPod Touch is pricey because it kicks balls...all Zunes are jealous of it and it's jailbreaking goodness.

I am the exact opposite of what you said people should be macs hardware is overpriced crap which just looks nice so people are like :O its shiny and small. Which while nice doesnt give them a right to overcharge by like 50% o more. OS X I can live with.

2. Can you play them with lack of all the necessary buttons, and still play them to where they are enjoyable?
3.Ipod is still a expensive piece of crap that you can't replace the batteries for it easily
