Well done Life of Brian.

My NDS cells sucked, same thing happened again.

Change of tack - getting the smaller versions of the Li-ions I used in my mullti-platform project, these ones are 20mm high (half height), 7.2v, 99g and 1850mAh. Just bought two, arriving Wednesday's post. Uses same charger as my existing ones which is handy. Leaves it rather close to compo end time!!

Spent half of today getting the audio to work. Turned out I had some wires in my female cart the wrong way around so one of the audio leads connected to the ground so I didn't get any sound. Resolved now!

I will be pushed to complete the project in time but will do my best. Had a few setbacks which cost lots of time.

Case is about done. I still need to cut the front parts out and glue it together but all the resawing and other cuts are done. Electronics are doing good. The Retro Duo is completely hacked up and ready to be stuck in the case. Didn't finish the controllers or the power circuit yet but I can knock those out in a day so I am not to worried about those.

From the way its been progressing I say I might have it done on Sunday so I will have a little time to do something extra 8)

Not going to let this thread slip down

Another update. Case almost done. Probably another 4-6 hours left on it to make it perfect.

kasar - you entered your GameCube portable, although you started it 11 July. Not eligible!

In regards to my project, going some design changes, look of rear will be a bit different; going to mount two of the Li-ion cells in the case itself when they arrive (all will be clearer when done). I only have Tuesday > Friday for project time and in that time I need to make a dual battery compartment, recess it in the casing, make some game carts (may only have time for two or three in the time constraints, case sides, some building work and some painting. Ouch - tight is not the word!!

He submitted it a week early though, so it averages out.

Sorry, yes I meant 11 June not 11 July. Several weeks before the compo even started. Proof is in his thread. The submission is totally invalid therefore. It isn't fair to submit old projects.

Skyone in the rules wrote:6) Portables will be encouraged to be STARTED on the day of commencement of the contest, so the time limit will be forced onto everyone. Go ahead and cheat though, whatever. :P
Looks to me like that part of the rules was more of a guideline.
I personally think it is fine for him to submit it, but I'm also not in the competition, so my opinion doesn't count for much.

That was written on the day that the rules were final, but the contest started officially two days later. When he said that, he was referring to "cheating" as starting two days early, not more than a month.

Indeed. 18th July is fine (if needs must), 20th July or later is better. Anything started before 18th July is frankly disqualified; otherwise this compo becomes a farce and disrespects anyone's work who are keeping to the rules.

I say oh well. Just let kasar enter it, he's already submitted it.

Maybe specify somehow that he actually started early so that people will take that into consideration when voting?

or just disqualify him.

but when did he really start working on it? I brought up the idea of my NESSP but I haven't even started...but anyways it's a GCNP...who else here is making a GCNP? I say let him enter just to give him motivation to finish..and win the "AWESHUM GCNP award"....

there are are no catagorized awards. And he already finished, why would he need motivation??

and the reason you have not started the NESSP is because it is impoossible!

Here we go again...

Feck it, I won't argue again. I've already decided to not enter, I'm gonna go work on my mega-console. Much better way to spend my time.
