X Box 360 Controller Idea???
Ok I'm Quadraplegic & Like to play Video games, Not Having finger use is Frustrating!!!!! but I know one can only do so much playing wise, regardless....
So . Here it Goes. Certain games are made myuch tougher by having No button assignment & having to use the damn trigger buttons - The bumpers are'nt awful when used sparingly - My Current Pain!!!!! Madden 09 - I Can play fine but Running the ball IS Tough!!!!!! I Can hike the ball fine - Pressing A, but having to quickly move & hold or pump the Right trigger for speed burst IS extremely Frustrating & Troublesome!!!!!!!! I Hate this!!!!!!! & NO small allowing of button reassignment anymore is plain Stupid....
My Thoughts on this matter/Custom Stick Is this - Put the 2 Triggers & bumper Buttons on the X Box 360 controller face, Just like the X,Y & A,B buttons zre!!!!! Cause this for me at least, Makes for Easier playing..
The other thought I Had & Having NO experience with building controllers, is this, I Wonder if its possible to Build a Arcade stick with BOTH Control plunger/sticks - The A,B - X,Y buttons, Plus the Triggers & the bumper buttons on the arcade sticks face also - Along with the Directional pad also - What this takes I have No Idea??? & it's the tougher of the 2 I bet..
Me?? I saw the right handed stick here & thought, Nice, but I Can't use it because I Have NO grip - I Wish someone made My 1st Suggestion IE a X Box 360 Control with the bumpers & triggers on the face also but as Buttons - This I Gotta think is very do-able by the intelligent folks here & Maybe pitched to Microsoft or other companies, Who I've never understood why they did'nt sell such controllers Directly from themselves, to Disabled gamers..
Matt Who asks, Can one sue game & console makers for Not proding ways to making their product easier/more enjoyable..

Because miscrosoft needs to make money. There are not enough disabled gamers to make them want to design a new controller.
Also, people have different disabilities. One person is missing a finger, one has limited motion, etc, etc. It would be impossible to make one for all of them. So for now, it is a custom design.
So you want the triggers moved to the front of the controller? Sounds easy enough. How much are you planning on spending? It depends on the kind of button, tact switch, or membrane.

Yeah I know & Realize this, You would think that microsoft would have some type of branch dealing with this stuff & thus bring in more money on custom requests??? of Disabled gamers, BTW I heard/read that 23% of gamers today are disabled in some manner - me, I'm a pretty good funtioning Quad....
This is the Closest I've come to doing anything about this. What would a controller cost to be made, I Have NO Experience - The Triggers & Bumpers can be the same size as the X,Y - A,B buttons - I Would'nt care - Just having them there for certaing games would great - Hell slightly combing suck n puff would work - I Don't need that period but if it helped I use it....
In a Perfect world??? Combine this New Brain movement tecnology being developed, along with what you can do with your hands - Me?? Move by stick - Think Run fast OR in other games Scope then shoot
So Can my stick be made??? & What would it cost??

would the special Ben Heck Access controller be of any use to you?

although I don't think there's an XBOX360 version...

Well, one thing about the triggers, is that they are analog, so some of their functionality would be lost in making it a button. I would love to make you a controller, however, i too, have no experience. I hope you find a solution. Is someone else on the forums willing to make you one?

May I ask how you type?
Ok. I'm Matt. I'm from Colorado & I am Quadraplegic - Which means I'm in a wheelchair & Have No use of my fingers, They are curled because I Can't straighten them - I Can move my wrists & arms good - I Have very limited Tricep but Strong Bicep n Shoulders & Lastly my forearms are fairly strong, but on the upper part, the lower is Weak...
I hold the X Box controller on my lap - on top of a Tightly tucked towel - I use my Left hand to Move the joysticks & hit the Left bumper & trigger -----
Then My right hand works the buttons IEWith My curled inside pointer finger, pressing the buttons - Which I Do pretty well if I can say so..
My Right hand side also presses/Hits against the triggers or hits the bumper when I need to, In Some Hames I've Played, This has HURT my being a much better player - Speed Bursts in Football & Hockey games to be precise - I Do alright on Call of Duty 4 & have Beat it on the 1st 2 settings, but having them Closer like the buttons are, Would Be Awesome & Make playing games much easier!!!!!!
Now I Know NOTHING about making controllers, or What it takes to do so, or Whats analog & whats not - but I do know what would make things easier for me, IE just moving 2 sets of Buttons - Right trigger & Bumper - onto the Controller face - I say only 2 because Most times games let you switch the triggers & bumpers up with each side.....
So There Ya go. I Hope this was Helpfull, If Ya need more info, Just ask & I'll provide - Me??? I Know zippo, but if you can House/put a New 360 controller in a OLD Fat/Big X box control, One could nearly drill 2 holes?? & attach/hook up the 2 extra buttons on the controller face???? Just my 2 cents & jumping the gun here...
As to that controller above, It's PS3 & It Looks cool & what I imagined in my mind, except I'd move the joysticks closer.... Thanks Again...

That controller is customizeable. Each of those little circles of buttons or joystick are interchangeable so you can put them where you want them.ShockeyTime wrote: As to that controller above, It's PS3 & It Looks cool & what I imagined in my mind, except I'd move the joysticks closer.... Well..to make something like that ps3 controller you have to make a custom case, probably from scratch, you then have to completly rip apart a 360 controller, cut up the pcb, rewire the cut up pcb into the proper positions (this can take a LONG while depening on how goo the person is at soldering small things), then the battery slot has to be relocated, put everything together then hope you didn't destroy the thing and waste your time and waste your money, if you did you can atleast reuse the case.

It's difficult but doable, but it's depends on who your talking to about it aswell.
