Dreamcast on batterys?

I just got a dreamcast for 20 bucks, how do I run it off of batterys? I hear it is difficult.

Use some dc-dc converters, a mini-itx psu, or some 780X regulators

step one: get a gc psu (from here)
step two: wire it to the DC (the voltages are 5v, 3.3v, and 12v...pinout for the gc psu on my GCp thread)
step three: hook up batteries to the GC psu

The easiest way would be to find a automatic selfbooting kit. Then you just put your roms and Nester into a certain folder, run the batch file, and it will make a nrg or cdi file to burn with Nero or Disc Juggler.

Does the Dreamcast boot other CD-rs? If yes then look at a different way to burn it. If no, check the back of the case and see if there is a big 2 in a circle, if you have a 2 then your screwed they dont read CD-rs.

i dont see why you couldnt get a 12V RC car battery and step the voltages down gradually on each rail

and i took my dreamcast apart and every time i do i am still amazed at how small it is

All Dreamcasts work with CDR. Some are more picky than others, but every DC will read CDR (sometimes a laser pot tweak is necessary).

Alchemist, unless your planning to do a lot of work on a verion 2 your not going to get it to run CD-rs. Sega specificly worked on the new GD-rom to remove the fuction to read the CD-rs.

Niku-Sama, its much better to use a GameCube PSU. With a custom PSU that uses 78xx you'd need to have a 14v (minimum) battery. Just pay the $10 or $15 for the supply and tare it aprart. Its the best as its the way the first DCp was made.
