Got my battery compartment made, took most of the day. Found a novel way to make one (details on my site of course).

Needs painting and finishing, but at least it works!!

Tomorrow I will make a test cart system and then test my system out for the first time, fingers crossed!

"Mankind" is the human species, both male and female sexes. "Man" is a reference to "mankind" in general speech although of course it can refer to "male". "Woman" just means "Man (kind) with womb"; as in "Woman".

I understand the mankind/male/female thing. Perhaps I should have said "Man-kind", to give it a more specific tone. What I pretty much mean was "I apologize on behalf of all immature young men who think it was funny". Including, to a certain degree, myself. Come on guys, this is not a bachelor party anymore! We have lady guests, so we have to be polite, act sharp, and remember to put the toilet seat down.

Bacteria, I look forward to seeing how much life you get out of those batteries. This should be very interesting. Do you have to charge each one separately?

That is an interesting idea on the battery case. Is the entire thing then glued to a piece of perspex? Or will that just be how it's glued in the case? How well does that plastic hold up to being drilled and having wires run through it?

Just because I'm a nit-picky nerd... the origin of the word "Woman" doesn't have anything to do with womb. "Woman" means "From Man" since Eve was made from the side of Adam. Which is interesting to me, because ever since then - men have been From Woman... because of the womb.

But, yeah, the word itself does not reference any physical attributes.

chad78 - Being extra picky - "womb man" > "woman". Not "from man" or that would have been "frman"

Anyway, I don't believe in fairytales about woman from man and all that stuff.

mothatrucka - The pic is the final product (outside will be painted of course). The wires are drilled through the perspex (tried and tested method) - have a look on my site, shows step-by-step guide to how I made it (in my very long "mini-platform system" tab).

palmertech - "Nobody can steal my ideas" - looks like a standard case to me! Anyway, who cares about "stealing ideas"? Mine are fully published as I go along. If anyone is copying me it will be obvious to everyone else!!

I am interested to see how long I get on these batteries too. I hope I get decent life; at least an hour as minimum would be considered satisfactory - hopefully I will get 1.5 - 2 hours maybe. Only one way to find out: I will report the results here when known (tomorrow). My test plug'n'play will be the Capcom one (Ghosts and ghouls, 1942 and Commando) as I butchered it for the A, B and C buttons and their board.

I have checked the wiring, just hope I don't have a short anywhere or do something stupid with the wiring. This system I am doing has a few variables which may not work, only way to check is to test it - if it works, it works...

Initially I will test the system with the plug'n'play running 4 x AA's; as soon as I know everything works, I will connect the plug'n'play to 8.4v and see if it fries or not (I have several units, and some are duplicated), if it does, I will see if the system runs on 5v from the PSone 7805 or a dedicated 7805 if I need to.

I have two USB chargers, so using them to recharge the batteries. I have 8 cells so no issue how long they last, as long as I get reasonable life.

Most of the electronics are done. Still need to build the case, controls, and power. I will probably build the controls and power today.

I know *exactly* what PalmerTech is making. Both projects. Mwahahahaha!

As far as stealing ideas - Bacteria is completely right that (normally) it's very cool to share your ideas in a very public way. However, for this contest, keeping ideas close to the chest might be a good idea.

Back to the woman thing - words don't always start in English, and whether or not you believe the story of the Garden of Eden, that doesn't change the fact that religion has affected language. Womb man has nothing to do with where the word Woman came from.

Personally, I'm working on a system that will play NES, SNES, GBA, GBO, GBC, N64, PS1, TG16, Master System, Genesis, Intellivision, NeoGeo Pocket, Wonderswan, and Game Gear games... I call it a laptop.

well, looking more into it online, woman comes from wifmon or wyfman, which comes from wyf an Anglo-Saxan word meaning woman and man, which can mean male person or just human. So we were both wrong and we were both right. You were right that it has nothing to do with Adam and Eve, but wrong about it being related to the womb. I was wrong about "From man" - but right about the not having to do with body parts.
