First Idea, but will it work?

Good afternoon, I'm Exdeath. I'm experienced in homebrew and soft-modding (installed CFW in over 15 PSPs), but I'm a total newbie to hard-mods. This morning, I had the interesting idea of making a NESp with an old Game Boy pocket. Is that possible with an NOAC? What do I need in terms of parts? And most importantly, how expensive will this be? I would appreciate your input.

You mean stuffing a NOAC in a gameboy pocket case?

Well this has been done with the original game boy, and it miiiiiiiight work if you use tiny parts (seeing as how it's possible to fit a noac and nes controller in a nes controller shell, this should too be possible in theory)

Well if you do this make sure that the screen you get is very small, and more importantly, flat. The NES slot might be an obstacle, though.

Is there a way to load a game using a different storage media? Like a flash drive with games written to it.

try using an original gameboy
there's more room for everything to fit better
but if you really wanna use the pocket your gonna need to modify the battery compartment to hold more batteries
i have a gameboy color and i think is slightly thicker then the pocket
and judging by the gameboy color either its gonna be a tight fit or its not gonna fit at all
and portables usually cost anywhere from 0 to 200 but it really all depends if you want to make it work or make it look awesome and work

if all you care about is gameboy-looks, I'd definitely go for the original gameboy

Otherwise you might be able to make it work by using small rechargeables (li-ions?). As for other game storage mediums, you could always just be happy with the games that came with your NOAC. Or you could get a chip to store tons of games on, make a menu and solder it to the right solder points. I doubt gameboy pocket is impossible, but I really advise you to go with the original. Especially since you seem not to mind, as long as it looks like a gameboy.

It's not the looks that bother me, no. I just don't have the money to buy a lot of parts, and garage sales often don't have the old stuff for sale around here. This is looking like a project that should wait until I have more experience, anyway. Thanks for your advice,

Try moving a GBC into a GBO! Someone tried that, but they ran into trouble because they would have to trim the whole sound portion of the board off. I looked at it myself, all you have to do is make an amp circuit (Very easy) and do the pro sound mod! It is pretty easy, otherwise.

try overclocking. just be careful not to break off any of the small parts of the crystal when replacing it. I did, whch resulted in very bad compatability with most games (like an ultra crappy noac).

Are you talking about putting a GBC mobo into a GBO shell? It shouldnt be hard at all to switch the shells, seeing as the GBC is significantly smaller than the GBO.

woops! I meant to say swap a GBC into a gameboy pocket shell. Much harder. I wonder if some GENIUS will ever move a GBA SP into a GBO... Now that guy would rock.

You're close; I tried to fit my GBC into my GB pocket case. It worked, but I had to shave 2/5 inches off of the bottom. Some minor trace repairs and it still works though; I fudged up the pocket case though so I abandoned the project.

The GBOMG was GBA SP into GBO.
