Melting hot glue off stuff.

I have a LARGE amount of hot glue that I need removed. I cant just rip or cut it off as it has wires in it. Also the plastic thing it is attached to doesn't need to be damaged.

So whats the best way to melt hot glue, its not like a thin layer, it is THICK.

If you must melt it, I would use the tip of a hot glue gun.

It would probably be best if you just cut/ripped it off.

Cheap desoldering iron and a lot of ventilation.

Hot glue is usually easier to remove from stuff when it's cooled. Once you get one corner starting to separate it should go pretty easily from there. If you need to remove embedded wires, it's best to take some diagonal cutters and carefully cut away the glue around it.

If you insist on melting it, go for a heat gun. (Hair dryers aren't hot enough.)

You can also cut it away with an X-Acto knife once it's set. The blade's small enough to get between wires, too.

I did this once and what I did was go in a really hot place(I did my parents car on a 101* day-Thats not including the temp inside the car(Not very smart )
and let it sit in there for 10 minutes
Then I kinda pushed it out with my finders. It was like gum but I just used my hands to get it out.

I use a cheap $5 soldering iron when I need it done quick.

Seriously. Or the hottest tapwater you can get.

Acetone (nail polish remover) will soften hot glue enough to easily remove it. Beware, it also melts plastics so use with caution.
