I bought a 360 pro and the guy i got it from said it had a bad eye. It would read cds just fine but when you put a dvd or 360 game in it wouldnt spin. I bought a new eye and put it in the drive and whenever i put games in it tries to play it like a dvd and it plays a video that says put disk in a xbox 360 console to play. I put my old eye back in and there are 2 adjustments on it (variable resistors or capacitors im not sure which). I think one controls how close to the inside the eye comes but im not sure about the other. I got the old eye to read but it does the same thing. We changed the whole drive with one from another xbox and still same thing.
Any Ideas???
Xbox 360 thinks games are dvds!!!

I've done that too; it's an easy way to do it.avadyn wrote:i've had the exact same problem. i got a good drive of the same exact model and swapped out the motherboards of the drives. it works great now! and it was a lot easier than trying to get the firmware off haha

thanks
Thanks ppl! I figured it out. The old eye was scratched and thats why it wouldnt take discs and the new one had a solder point that needed to be removed prior to use. I am buying a new drive now and just swapping boards on them. The old drive has a problem and it keeps scratching discs and eyes. Thanks a bunch for the ideas.
Mhmm...
