How to overclock a Sega Genesis

anyone know? In light of recent events (aka I bought some Neo Geo ports, slowdown city) I want to overclock a Sega Genesis. I'd prefer to do it to a model 2 since they seem to be the most common but if its substantially easier I'll track down a model 1 to do it to. I also want to do it in a way that I can switch between standard and overclocked speeds and I only want to go fast enough that the system won't overheat or malfunction without auxiliary cooling. I'm not looking for a world record, just trying to play Samurai Shodown and Viewpoint without counting the frames.

well, if you want to switch speeds, you can use both crystals, just put a switch in between them.

Do you mean you don't know how, what to use something of the sort?
because I'm pretty sure you could use this guide for a brief understanding http://www.geocities.com/gbcoverclocking/ It is for a gb color though.

This is the directions I used for my Genesis mod. I took it to 10mhz and it seems pretty stable for most games.

If you're going to order an oscillator anyway, you could also pick up a multi color LED (one with 3 leads). If you switch speeds with a double pole switch, then you could also switch the color of the LED at the same time with the left over switch poles.

On mine, stock 7.6 Mhz - red power LED
Overclocked to 10 Mhz - yellow power LED

The video/stereo mods are also a great upgrade, the s-video is a little challenging, but the others are straight forward.
