PS2 Slim + 12 Volts = Yay? (EDIT: SOLVED!! YAY!)

Would a PS2 Slim (7.2V) be ok if I hook it up to 12V?

In a sense, A regulator in it should step the voltage down.

That depends is it a battery ranging from lets say 10-12 volts?
Or just straight up 12 volts

It should be O.K. (Risky though)
But to be safe get close to the 12 volts
It also depends on the situation-Portable, car plug etc.

A 7805 that says 7808!

A little few mm thick black square, with 3 pins on the bottom, and a small thin(1 mm) metal rectangle with a hole in the center on the top. Will probably be placed on a heatsink somewhere.

I ripped open 2 Power Supplies and 2 Car Stereos and I ended up with a bunch of 7805s.

No luckies on the 7808..

YAY! I can grab 8v from a 7805!!!!

EDIT 2: Now to find resistors.

EDIT 3: YES! Resistors are in a car stereo. 7808, here I come!

OK, New Formula:

PS2 Slim + 12V + 7805 + 220 Ohm Resistor + 470 Ohm Resistor + Heatsink = Yay?

EDIT: So I built the circuit and the PS2 booted up to main menu. YAY! When I insert a disc, it turns off to standby! Awww...

And I have to use a bigger heatsink. The HS I'm using was HOT!
