SS we must think alike because I was considering doing this same mod on a gba, except putting in a switch, and putting a backlight in, although i'm told you can't led mod it by schmellyfart.

well you can put a light in it, but I think LEDs would probably take up too much room. If you want a light (frontlight, actually, but its behind the screen protector), look into getting yourself an afterburner. or there's something called the Halo or something like that, that actually replaces the screen protector and plugs into the port on top.eurddrue wrote:SS we must think alike because I was considering doing this same mod on a gba, except putting in a switch, and putting a backlight in, although i'm told you can't led mod it by schmellyfart.

I didnt do a switch, but I did install a new crystal. You can front light it, I have been thinking about doing that, I have a frontlight left over from my old sp.eurddrue wrote:SS we must think alike because I was considering doing this same mod on a gba, except putting in a switch, and putting a backlight in, although i'm told you can't led mod it by schmellyfart.
Video
We need someone to manufacture a new screen, with a backlight.

Rip as much off as you can, then solder the new one on. Mine kinda crumbled apart, too, and I just got enough off to solder to the pads below it.themadhacker wrote:how do I get the old crystal off? I tried needle nose pliers on one of my gameboiys, but the crystalbroke in half. also, the gameboy is broken too.

well, I overclocked the broken gameboy and it works (kinda). i broke a few of the small parts off near the crystal, so now the games work only once in a while. sometimes the games are glitchy, like last night ,I was playing link's awakening dx, and whenI came to the menu all the files had full hearts and blocky messed up names.
rest in peace, Ronnie James Dio! \m/

Do you guys know what a vise-grip is? I think it is brand name, but on a farm that's what we call it. It worked just fine to get the crystals off a computer mobo.

well I got mine off of an old gateway mobo, and I have 3 more crystals, Ive got 14.318, 14.3,25, and 24.5 mhz I'm still debating which one to use, and then I will sell the rest on here, and hacker, the vise grip works to get the ones I listed, I don't really know about the one on a gbc.
