That guy used a custom video decoder, I do not think that it is anywhere within most people on these forums skill level. I actually knew about that, but I did not mention it because it really does not realistically apply. Never say never, I guess!

As for the battery... Skyone, are you familiar with the DS? It has a built in hardware check that stops it from booting if any of the hardware is out of spec, including the battery. The 5v charger port on the DS is made to be small, NOT effecient. Even with regulators, it would never make any sense to run off AAs.

For the most part, the jumbotron isn't out of our league, its out of our price range. Remember, we are taking cheap old consoles and turning them into handhelds, using household materials, free samples, and more importantly, tools from your local walmart.

We could, but were poor.

But the more that I look at the wiring, the more I think: AcidMods.

Yes, I'm quite familiar with it, but that's hardly anything to stop anyone from upgrading the battery in my opinion.

Otherwise, I think people need to change their stereotypical ideals about the members of this forum. I don't think we're ALL poor and cheap.

Not saying an upgrade is impossible, just impractical. And SS, I really do think that the jumbotron is out of your range, AFAIK, they built a custom FPGA to handle that, and really, that takes skillz. Like, masters degree skillz.

My system is coming on nicely but there is a LOT of work to do yet. Monday I have half a day for this project, all day Tuesday, next Friday morning, half of the 20th and then most of the days from 21st onwards. I will get this system done before the close of the compo, for sure. Having to tread carefully with this project, with such a small system I don't have much margin for error.

Bacteria, use the trace technique in the expansion pack relocation project. I've been using it for the past few hours, I love it more and more. It makes it super easy to not screw up.

Yeah, IMHO, that's been damned near every post of yours since you came back. Seriously, find something worth saying before you post. I'm getting sick of you and your assumptions.

Anyway, back on topic, I've found a screen in my price range, and I'm waiting on it. I may be able to resurrect that first project I started and finish it in time. I doubt anyone will be all that impressed with the system it uses, but frankly, I'm building it for me, and I don't care.

and at the end of the day, that's all that really matters. that you built something that you wanted and like for you.

I agree. Portablizing is entirely about one's own amusement. Let's face it - it's a hobby. A badass hobby to be sure, but a hobby nonetheless. Like all hobbies, it's an activity intended to bring you enjoyment and satisfaction and whatever anyone else thinks about what you do in your free time shouldn't affect how you feel about it. Getting compliments (or winning competitions) is a nice bonus, but it's not the point.

That said, I just finished my cartridge slot relocation and it worked perfectly on the first try. The end draws near!
