The LHC is very similar to Fermilab, which is in Batavia, IL, which is where I live. Their particle accelerator is basically a larger, more powerful version of Fermilab's. Until this thing goes live, Fermilab has the largest particle accelerator in the world. We have nothing to worry about.

Heres the thing that get me about this blasted thing. It could under the right conditions. Make a Mirco Black Hole.

Why can't people leave well enough alone with things that could end the earth as we know it?

But thanks to Hawking radiation, the micro black holes will expire within a fraction of a second. A micro black hole created by the LHC would probably be the size of a couple atoms, and would dissipate within a fraction of a microsecond. The odds that this won't be the case are astronomically high.

There's a bigger chance the end of the world could be an asteroid or supervirus. There's a better chance of a large black hole approaching us from deep space and sucking up the entire solar system than one of our own creation doing it.

Seriously, if you've done any reading at all (aside from conspiracy theorists' propaganda), you know there's nothing to worry about.

considering that there is a possibility of discovering the higgs boson and basically proving the standard model of partical physics and moving us closer to finding a grand unified theory of physics. if the LHC does the things they think it might it will help bring forth some of the greatest scientific discoveries in human history

First and foremost, scientists are interested in results. Take that alone as fact, and I can guarantee you the world isn't going to end when they turn this thing on. Who gets results when the world ends? No one. They're just as eager to survive something and see the results as we are to go on with living.

Secondly, dang, do some f***ing research. Read the interviews the builders and theorists are giving. What they're about to do is about as hazardous for the entire world as that scene from "Count of Monte Christo" where that old priest was banging the rocks together in his cell. Did that cause a black hole? Didn't think so.
