So I guess I will see u all in some kind of afterlife. Or, in the case of a resonance cascade, see you in the resistance! :)

For anyone who has no idea what he's talking about.

Never saw this before, looks interesting. How much you wanna bet it doesn't work when they flip the switch?

Of course we will be. If any of you did any research, you'd know that no particle collisions are going to take place until later on in the year.

And even then, it strength of the collisions are hardly enough to create a black hole.

I didn't really do any research. I didn't look too much into it.

If they were talking about particles like anti-matter and matter collision, then sure that could result in the end of the world. As that is not the case, I'm in agreement with Skyone that the power resulting would be very small.

And really who would believe that colliding particles could create a blackhole? Blackholes are the result of super dense mass, generally from a collapsed star. So who are they fooling, saying that such things could happen?

Haven't particle colliders been around for a few years now? Yeah, this is to an entirely new scale, but if it was really that dangerous, would they have taken it this far?

In any case, nothing anyone can do to stop it, or anything else going wrong on that level. lol

That's relatively sad. The LHC is there to further scientific knowledge. It can't cause the end of the world, quite the contrary, it will bring priceless data into the world which could lead to a revolution in sub-atomic particle theory. Smashing things together at high speeds recreates conditions like the big bang, the LHC getting close to hundredths of a second after it. Pity that we can't all love physics.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Honestly, this has to be the single greatest invention in man kind if you ask me. Simulating the creation of every
thing in existence..Just wow, can wait to see the findings.

Any back holes that do form will be microscopic, and will degrade quickly. According to a back issue of Popular Science, the chances of a stable, threatening black hole forming are one in a googol. (1 × 10^100, or 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000)
To put that in perspective, your chance of getting struck by lightning is about 280,000 to 1. Winning the Powerball? 120,526,770 to 1.

Even if one does form, Earth would go about its business normally for billions of years before any notable destruction happens. (ie a pen gets sucked in.)

I want a tiny black hole that can suck in pens!!

But this is some really cool stuff right here. Hopefully the human race will be able to use this knowledge to their advantage.
