Guys, does this work or not? People are saying it does, and people are saying it doesnt. Some people also say it does but the video is somewhat exagerated.

I know hes only using 50lbs magnets, But theres 4 of them. Which makes 200lbs of lift. Which really should be able to lift a person.

Sure, maybe two 9v's arent enough. Add a few more, maybe?

Also, I dont get hows hes floating. Wouldn't those magnets pull him down, not push him up?

He says hes floating above metal, but really. Wouldnt the magnets attract to the metal, not repel?

If thats true, wouldnt it be possible to make one of these and just put another set of magnets down which face the other direction, so the sets of magnets repel?

If theres someway for this to work, I want to try it.

Maybe, add more current/voltage, or add more magnets, or stronger magnets. Or maybe even put magnets on the ground, so the sets repel making it possible to "float" (although that ways sort of impractible).

HDC, we can't smack you upside the head over the internet, so please do it yourself.

1. The battery/switch assembly does nothing but short out the batteries when the switch is on.

2. Electricity needs a complete circuit. He only soldered one wire to each magnet. (The shoe itself doesn't count, because rubber is an insulator.)

3. Those magnets aren't electromagnets, so they don't even need electricity.

4. Magnets are attracted to steel, therefore the magnets would be attracted to the steel rebar in the floor, not repelled.

5. In order to float, there would have to be magnets with the polarity lined up the same way under the floor. This would only work until you turned around, aligning opposite poles together, and you stick to the floor with your new gravity shoes.

You're better off making something that's actually possible. Try making a hovercraft out of some plastic film and plywood. (It works, too! You just need a leaf blower to supply the cushion of air.)

I didnt notice any of that stuff. But now since you say that, I watched again and noticed.

Wow, bic. I saw your comment on youtube, but didn't see that you had written it, so when I read your post here I was like "Wo, deja vu".
If it worked, the video doesn't show it working. Look at when he is "hovering". His toes are pointed down. If anything, they should be pointing up, because there is 50 pounds of upward force on his toes and his heel. The force of magnetism decreases very quickly as distance increases, so the feet would have to be level to have the same force on each of them. In the video, the heel magnet would have less force on it then the toe one, so it would naturally level out. So at the very least, the video is fake regardless of if the shoes worked.

And I do agree I found it odd that he didn't use any copper wire around the magnets, yet it works. Or that his heels are higher in the air then his toes, despit the fact he said most of the work is going to be on the heels. Or even more where do you find 50 lbs. life magnets? Cause I'd love to know.[/rant]

You should never solder directly onto battery poles. When he was pretending to hover, he didn't exactly make a good impression. Why? Because his feet were hanging. He wasn't even pretending to put some weight on the magnets!
