My portable N64 case WIP

So I am making a portable N64. Here is the case, let me know what you think! Note: The big hole is where the gamecube joystick is going.

See those vents? Fans are going to go there.

I made this case with bondo, an old anwering machine, a modem, an n64 controller, a PSX controller, the housing from a psone screen, and a gamecube controller. Lots of parts!

I don't like how a lot of people move the A and B buttons around, so I made my case with the original n64 controller face! So it even has that raised piece of plastic in the middle of the C butons that is so desparately needed for games like goldeneye.

Any thoughts, criticism, or praise? Please help me out and tell me!

looks like it could be a real winner when the system's done and the case is prettied up. keep up the good work.

Now that you mentioned it..it will be kind of odd when you have to hold it differently tohave the screen in the center...

But if you wet sand that, paint, wet sand higher girt, paint, you hopefully know what to do....then that case will be very nice...also is it just me or is it abit saggy where the holes are cut? Maybe just the lighting?

Didn't notice that at first. it does look like you do have room to move it over to the right by a millimeter or two.

Its kind of hard to determine how much of a bother that would be in actual game-play environment. I would guess that it wouldn't cause too much disturbance.

Yes, I want to punch a hole in it. But that's just the OCD in me.

I have made a good bit of progress today, it looks a lot better. The holes were not saggy, but the wierd texture and the lighting made it look like that.

I don't think you would hold it differently to make it centered, it would work fine a bit off. Think of it this way: Normally, you play on a tv with a controller. You are most likely at least 2 or three feet off!

Besides, it is REALLY comfortable, you cannot see it in this picture, and I have made them more pronounced, but it has some awesome flare rounding on the bottom sides.

You might be able to give the illusion that the screen is central by making the colour scheme funky - dark colours on the right, stronger on the left.

Looks good, We need more portables with gamecube joysticks! You have some real skill when it comes to bondo'ing and sanding. Finish installing the rest of your plastic, and then super sand that thing. For an hour or two. Then, I want you to allpy a coat of primer. then sand it off. then more primer, then light sand. then light paint. Then gloss.

And then it will be epic!

@bacteria: Good idea! However, I think I will just go with normal colors, I think that the "offness" makes it look kinda cool.

@shockslayer: Yes, the GC joystick is SOO much better than th N64 one, and I dont understand why people use it, it is going to wear down after a few years. What then, open it up and fix it? Not really an option if you sell it to somebody.

Most of the plastic is done, just need to drill speaker holes. Should I put them on the front, or maybe use the fan vents? On the side, I know, but it would look cool.

I think that this is going to be the smallest n64p with internal batteries EVAR, any others I should look at for size comparison?

Also, I was waiting to see if anyone noticed...guess not. Take a look at the dpad... WAT!? A PSX DPAD! HERESY!

Once I submit it, look at my 6th for comparison.

Gc joysticks wear down too, just not as quick. I screwed in my joystick to make repairs easy.
