I'd participate in a straight-up mod contest, but a portable's a bit much right now.

Anyways, triton, if you pull that SNESp off, I dunno, it'll be tough to beat!

Then again, Brian IS a SNESp god, and that non-d pad looks interesting...

I guess todays agenda is to test the Namco to see if it still works. Due to the fact it dismantled since september and things can happen with a long time frame like that. And then gut two other plug n plays I have that I know that work.

In other news, barring a sudden reincarnation of all my broken parts, I'm out. If I get the parts and find the time, I'll definitely enter, but it's not bloody likely.

CronoTriggerfan - That is where the compo will be interesting - there will be choices of the prettiest and smallest "here's-another-one-done-before" system; vs innovative systems which either haven't been done much before or feature unusual features - it will be interesting!!

looks like i'm probably not gonna have mine done on time. I haven't had a chance to look under the case of my SNES (damn you e-torx screws!!!). Already tried the pen method but it doesn't seem to work on my SNES

. anyways, I guess we'll just have to see if I can get it open AND get the rest of my supplies AND put it together... probably not gonna happen until winter or later.

The case is mostly empty, dremel your way through.

Or, I know this isn't safe, or a smart idea, but with my first Snes that I wanted to open, before I got my dremel, I took an old soldering iron with a busted tip and melted through the screw posts. It works, but prepare for a headache for the majority of the day.

that was another option I was considering, but i've seen e-torxes on amazon for just a couple bucks. thinking maybe I should get one of those. probably save a lot of ripping apart effort. only problem is that I don't have any online payment accounts. I'm thinking i'll get one of my friends to order it.

anyways, being a week into august, it looks like they'll be off to their dorms before any of the serious work on the project starts.

i have both

basically im really ambitious and have great ideas and can do really good work but get distracted easily, start more projects than i can handle and have rediculous attention to detail as well! thank god for ADD meds, i would never get anything done otherwise

Why don't you take a soldering iron, heat of the screw, then take very small pylers and pull the sucker out...or quickly turn it upsidedown and whack the screw out...the whacking might take a few tries...

I was actually about to try that out the other day. I went out to the garage and took out our soldering iron and plugged it in. By the time I was about to stick it down into one of the screw holes, I noticed that the tip on the soldering iron was too thick. apparently my dad too the thin tip to work (although I can't imagine what he'd need it for)
