New member, new ideas

Hey I'm a new member but have been watching this site for quite some time.

Anyway, I recently found my old N64 and plan to buy a few more for some custom projects I have in mind. But with this one i want to keep it relatively retro with a modern look.

Only problem is the first thign i want to do is put a clear case on it. I just cant find one, If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

I want to keep my mod ideas relatively secret but will post as I do them but first things first is a case change =P

AFAIK, no third party n64 cases were made.

I was afraid of that, I was going to look into purchasing some, but thought against it as i need a clear case. I think i will have to have one custom built, which shouldn't be too difficult with the technology on offer. Thanks for your reply

depending how much time your devoting to this project, i'm building a tinted plexiglass case using tube plexi, flat plexi, apoxy, and that auto tinting spray. basically you use a dremel or equivilent tool to cut out the shapes you want to inmitate the retro look. then apoxy. i would suggest getting multiply sizes of plexi tubing for diverse curves+wet sanding. last and MOST IMPORTANTLY you'll need to get some anti static spray because plexi glass builds a charge and could fry your system...

If plexi-glass (acrylic / perspex) had that problem, people would not make working systems with it. There is no static issue.

Why just make an alternative case when you can do so much more?

in my opinion i side with IndyChav, too many people do the P64 converison, of all the topics i read it seams to be a recurring subject..."how do i build a portable 64/laptop 64" what happened to good old system mods?

Is this your first project?
if it is I suggest a nes or snes portable to get some experience also plexiglass is ok, but go for simple and cheap on your first portable. Like I've said before marshallh's first n64p was just in the 64 shell, and then he conquored the n64 portablizing world with his L337-N64 or L64.
Just get some experience so that you don't mess up your n64s.

you'll hear this from a lot of people but, make a vacuum former, get good practice with it, and if your trying to get a retro clear look, just vaccum form around all the oringinal casing parts it will be close to the oringinal shape and size and you can make it almost any color. and as eurddrue said, start with a nes or snes first, get use to the assembly and distassembly

And before you ask a simple question, just read on the forums, read up to 10 pages before you start asking questions, it really expands your electronic knowledge!
