PSP Phat dropped and won't read mem stick.

Post by Aguiluz »

So my brother is watching Youtube on PSP using a homebrew called PSPTube. The memory stick was in the unit obviously and also the WiFi was on as well. He kinda forgot to wear the wrist strap and then dropped the PSP.

The battery popped out and the PSP turned off.

When he came to me, the PSP refused to boot when the battery, Memstick and charger. It was a blank screen with the POWER light on and the MS light blinking at regular intervals.

We turned it off, removed the battery, charger and memstick. We left it for 5 minutes. We put back the battery and the charger and left out the memstick. The PSP booted up.

When we put in the memstick while the PSP is on, the MS light blinked regularly again but the MS isn't recognized at all!

Help?

I reccomend that you be careful if you open it up. Do something so that you can remember which screw goes where and when.

Because getting to the guilty party is gonna be hard.

Have you checked if the MS card is broken? Could have got damaged in the fall.

I switched to another memstick. Nope.

I put in both sticks in my laptop and both sticks work.

Find a guide on how to open up a psp. Step by step with pictures, just to be safe.

When you can see the pins for the memory card reader, snap a pic and post it.

FIXED IT!!!!!!

1. Disassemble down to this part.

2. Push down the memory stick pins with a flathead screwdriver.
