EDIT 2: Now there is a REALLY low humming noise that hurts my ears, any way to fix that?
Ok I just bought a Creative Subwoofer from goodwill for cheap.
I know it is supposed to be used for computers, but I wanted to improve my bedroom's entertainment center by adding this Sub woofer to my Quasar AV Surround Speakers that have a built in amp, which I also got at Goodwill, but I only got 2 of the 4 speakers I think cause Surround usually has at least 4 speakers, or it could have been a fancy name.
But when I got the hook-ups to plug the audio for my TV into, I turned my TV on to test it, and the Bass was so loud that it was crackling (I already check to see if the cone was broken and it wasn't, and the Bass was turned ALL the way down, yet I still get Bass that rattles my whole room.
So I switched it to going into my Quasar speakers and out to the Woofer instead of going into the woofer and out to the speaker, and I still get loud Bass at Normal volume, and get the proper Bass from the woofer at very low volumes.
I only get the proper Bass when I switch the Quasar speaker to Mono, which then completely takes the point out of having a sound system in the first place.
I even tried a lower voltage power plug, but was 3v lower than recommended so it didn't even turn on.
So what can I do to correct this? I am willing to even open the woofer and do modifications that require soldering and crap.
EDIT: Found the problem, I had to remove one of the 2 Audio jack going into the woofer and it corrected it.
Found nother problem see above.

The low humming is probably 60-cycle hum. (It's caused by wall current, and happens on turntables and stuff like that.)
You could try putting a filter cap on the power input.

all I know is the Sub woofer runs on 12vdc

Is there any devices I can buy that can take the 1/8th jack, and output through a 1/8 jack (Like on some headphones and earbuds but they have it build in) and adjust the volume on that as it goes into the subwoofer?
Plus I got rid of the 60-cycle hum.

I tried take one out of a pair of broken headphones, but I mixed the Ground lines and the audio lines up, so the potentiometer slider didn't do jack.

Would it work if I soldered both the audio line together and they mix to make it mono?
I don't think it works that way but I am asking just to make sure, either that or I am just gonna input the right audio channel into the subwoofer and forget about the left, or just get 2 of these potentiometers for each audio line.
With the knob facing you, connect:
Left: The input
Middle: The output
Right: Ground
For stereo, use a double potentiometer.
Edit: If you're only planning to use it with active stuphph. (Ie things with a builtin amplifier) things are simple. Just choose a LIN type potentiometer with any value between 1k and 22k or so. If you're going to use it directly with headphones, you need a potentiometer with a low value, matching that of your headphones, for best effect.
