Pretty fun project. Sorry for the scatter brained write up, but its pretty late here and I'm heading to bed.

Feel free to ask questions and I'll be happy to answer them.

so is it like a plug n' play system?

edit: oh, I see the d-pad and the buttons now. I thought you were gonna use it as a portable duck-hunt or something.

Novel idea, but no screen? (so more of a controller and system rather than a portable).

No screen small enough.

I'm sorry. I know its a little off from the theme here, but someone had done something similar in a NES controller without a screen and posted a write up. If it doesn't belong on the site, I'll take it down.

Don't mind them. They're hard to impress. No reason you can't post something like that here. It's an original mod.

Anyway, pretty slick work! Is that the final paint job? It reminds me of those toy air pistols we used to have. I really like the idea of an all-purpose controller like that. Nice job!

So? It's a cool mod and probably required some major cram work, which is always fun. :P Unique idea, and functional to boot!

Nah! It completely belongs here. Bacteria's just a square.

Very nice work, is it comfortable to hold/play?

As long as it is a cool mod it belongs here. 8) Great work. could you post of pic of how you hold it though? I'm curious to see if I got the right idea.

I didn't say it wasn't an interesting mod (I did say "novel" after all)! Just thought a 1-1.5" screen in the mid section might have fit (you can get them).

Oy, Skyone - :o i'm not square (cheeky whippersnapper); perhaps more of a cube - I am three dimensional after all!! :D

That's cool that you fit the NOAC in the gun handle without having to remove the guts of the light gun. That really makes it an all-in-one NES. Very cool mod.

Any idea of sourcing for a 1.5" screen? I looked at several small screens, did not see anything that size that had anything other than digital inputs -- e.g., all the MP3/video players are lacking composite video input.

If one could find a small enough screen, it would work, you would put the guts of the NOAC in the "opposite" side of the half of the light gun, and the controller and LCD and batteries (probably one of the small flat 3.7v li-poly batteries).

But I couldn't find a good screen option -- and remember, the size of the LCD is only part of the problem -- there has to be a small enough circuit board accompanying it, and then there's the need for an audio amplifier too.

You hold it pretty much exactly as it is pictured, with the open part of the "V" shape made by grip and pistol facing the TV, and the D pad "square" to you, the direction OPPOSITE the one closest to the screw is "up"

Its actually perfectly playable, the angle of the buttons is like on the controllers with a diamond shape but using only 2 buttons.

Alas, its a dead end project. None of the LCD televisions respond to a light gun, so in the end, those game will fade away.

Nice. A actually thought that bacteria was more of a cubical rectangle, like spongebob.

Anyways, a sweet mod, and I hope it works well for you.
