I'd like to see Flyleaf, Enter Shikari, Bobaflex, Nonpoint, Deftones, We Are Scientists, Foals, Get Cape & Spineshank in GH, but instead we get old man music, isnt GH supposed to appeal to a 16-21 age demographic? =/
believe it or not, some of us 16-21 year olds appreciate good music.
I wouldn't doubt that more teens today like older rock than the bands he's talking about, which I've never even heard of.
I've never heard of them either. but to be fair, most of the good music nowadays is by bands people haven't heard of.

When I read that I thought you were suggesting having classical music in the next Guitar Hero. Incidentally, I would not be opposed to an added mechanism which would require you to hold the strum down while playing a note as if you were playing a violin.

I really have to ask though. They released a 'game play trailer' for Rock Band 2. Did anyone not know what the game was going to look like? What is the point of the game play trailer?

There was classical music in GH3. One of the bonus songs (Can't remember which) starts out with Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca. It even said in the loading comments something about it being Mozart.

As for holding down the strum, a guitar is NOT a violin. Besides, the hammer ons/hammer offs are as close as a guitar can get.

Nintendo Revealed another peripheral

oh wait this one actually looks pretty cool!

http://wii.ign.com/articles/888/888837p1.html

It is called MotionPlus and it Plugs into the expansion slot on the remote, and is supposed to have 1:1 motion sensing, should make for allot better motion sensitive actions in game than just waggling the controller and shaking it to do stuff.

My opinion on this is that Nintendo could have released this originally but didn't want the Wiimotes to cost too much so they held off hoping people would buy them if they came out later. Sort of like the artificial demand for Wiis. Then again, that's all speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised.

As for Microsoft's announcements, I wasn't too enthused. It was funny though, I saw Steve Miller live last night and was thinking how perfect Rock'n Me would be for Rock Band and then there it is the next day. I like the new set list, plus the importing songs from the first game feature so you don't have to switch discs.

As for the new dashboard, I haven't seen too much, but the Netflix agreement sounds cool for people that use that service. The 'copy disc to HD' sounds nice for people with Elites, but you still have to put the disc in the drive, which is dumb. There were a couple other features that seemed nice and cool and convenient, but nothing earth-shattering. I'll wait for more actual game stuff.

Saw Microsoft's show. Finally looks like Microsoft is using its own hardware...They are extremely focused on multiplayer this year. I'm not excited about the change to live thought those avatars look stupid...

The guitar not being a violin is the point. Currently there are a half dozen guitar games that have the exact same play mechanics (with the exception of the hammer ons which are optional play mechanics). If people are complaining about Zelda being the same, people should complain about Guitar Hero being the same.

Hell... the Tony Hawk series has been more innovative than the Guitar Hero series. And that is saying something.

As a side note, I like all of the above games, but I also like when games add new game play styles for me to play around with. Maybe it will be useless to me (running added to THUG) maybe I will use it all the time (Revert added to THSP3), but at least it is new.

I definatly can't wait for Nintendo's and Sony's conferences tomorrow. Also Nintendo must have something up it's sleeve with the unveiling of the Wii Motion Plus or it was just trying to take some hype from Microsoft's conference today.

Final Fantasy XIII to the 360 is awesome, but the new dashboard looks god-awful. I'm still waiting for the Kirby announcement and news on The Conduit! :D Unfortunately, though, no Kid Icarus or Kingdom Hearts III this year, I've heard. Oh well.

Call me whatever you want, but I had never heard of Tom Morrello before GH; I've always known about Slash. Image

Lol same here, I actually used to play as Tom Morello in GH3, then my friends were like "You're playing as Tom Morello?!?" Then I used Slash with his Arm the Homeless guitar.

Now I am Using Slash still with a Black SG.
