gamecube VGA mod questions

when I figured out you can make the GC output to vga I was somewhat very happy because the only HD screen I have is my lcd computer monitor...but when I looked at the mod I saw that you need to hack up the cable and lose the ability to output to component...which I still would like to be able to do...

so here's the question, is it possible to make the cable output in both? Or maybe just add a vga port on the GC?

yes that mod exactly! The thing is...I bought my Component cable for 8 bucks...and it's the only one the used VG store near me has ever gotten...and ebay is expensive! 30 bucks! no way....hopefully...
