i will have to get pics later. right now i am going to try to attach wires to the cartridge slot. can someone tell me how to correctly to that? i am not attaching the wires to the board yet just the cartridge slot. Do i put some solder on each metal pin first then melt it with the on top? or is there a better way?
also i was reading the section about wiring the controller in ben's book, is it easier to just use the board from the controller or do like what was described in the book and make a controller.

i have single stranded 22 gage wire. What does it mean to tin the pins and wire?phantom92opera wrote:tin each pin on the cartridge connector then apply some flux over that ( i use the petrol kind so its solid till the iron hits it) also using solid not stranded wire helps a lot! if you arent in a rush tin your wires too and you should have no problems

tinning is the practice (or action really) of applying a little solder before actually making a connection, it helps ease the connection which will be made earlier by providing something aside from the pin its self for the new matter (in your case a wire) to adhere to.
basically you apply some solder to each pin without putting the wire on.. then do the same with the wires (if you want, its not really necessary but it helps a lot!) then solder the wires on

for the most secure and easiest adherance yes. however some people tin just the cart connector. tinning wires can be difficult.. use radioshack helping hands.. i dont know what i did before them..
heres a pic of the flux i use it doesnt melt until the tip gets near it (its petrolium based so its easily applied to the pins)

it also helps create a strong connection.
best of luck m8!
