GC drive issues,[resolved] ;)

after do this mod:

and after putting everything into case ,I´m having some problems here

original games works fine allways.

but using 8 cm gib dvd backups using this mod, I got DRE (disc read errors), when reallocate to some of those places



allocating the unit drive to original place it run the big dvd´s fine.

but using custom positions cause trouble reading discs and cause errors that make unable play with backup discs.

did the drive have some allocations limitation like vertical ones?

I tryed fix this arround more than 16 hours, I also spend several "sleep" hours working and this, and all has been waste of time, same results allways. tryed adjust the drive POT, but dont helps a lot :S

help will be really apreciated guys

Try burning your backups at a slower speed like 1x or 2x. It sounds like when the drive is in other positions it is more prone to error.

thanks man,you answer helped me a lot. I made sometests and seems that was the problem, after burn a backup of windwaker dvd +r vervatim ,1x,booktype dvd-rom.

Seems at least readed it and run the intro fine (I didnt tested it a lot)

but also make me wondering.

is there anyway to place the dvd drive at a different place from original without lose reading permonance?

I know this is very hard on a handheld (multiple positions, lot of moving, it is like a music diskman now, must have antishock or something)

Well, I will answer myself, I doubt I can give it as permonance as before, so It seems I condened my gamecube to stop reading about 150+ stuff discs I burned for it. bad day,damnit, this "cheap" portable is not cheap, it is expensive!

well, I burned all stuff at vervatim +r burned at 2x or 4 x I remember.

So now, I need choose a nice media type.

IDK if i must choose +r or -r , I know +r are better, but less compatible, -r are a little cheaper, but more compatible

So I will need choose for a disc that doesnt require POT adjustement (I tryed adjust the POT again after drive reallocation and didnt help.

so I need any kind of media with the same read details stuff than original ones.

No problem I found this out the hard way with burning linux discs. Hope it works out for yah.
