would it be possible to make a controller for the ds.So the buttons on the ds would still work but you could use the buttons on the controller too.

Yes, that's possible if you add a wire to each button separately.

But if you do that, you'll either need to get a serial multiplexer with matching de-multiplexer to consolidate the signals, or have a cable with about 13 wires connecting the controller to the DS.

The real question is, why bother? It's designed to be a handheld, and as far as I know there aren't any TV-Out systems for it yet. :? Besides, relocating the touch screen is an entirely different matter.
